Ballhawkin': Kiwanuka a Good Spot Play

Think IDP leagues are the way to go? Then Ballhawkin' is for you. Here, we pick out a few Individual Defensive Players that could have huge weeks and are possibly sitting in your free-agent pool.

Justin Durant had a great IDP game against the Cardinals, putting up nine total tackles and forcing a fumble for 13 points in my league. The rest of our picks for Week 2 were just average, and Tamba Hali was actually far worse than that, with a pass defensed being his only contribution to an IDP statline.

Ready to check out some little-owned IDPs that could help you to big Week 3s?

Buccaneers Sign Angelo Crowell

After releasing Cato June and Derrick Brooks to open the offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have quite a need for some help at the linebacker position. Apparently, they're not only willing to scour the free-agent market, but also think outside the box -- or blindly throw darts at the wall, depending on your perspective -- when it comes to improving the position.

On Wednesday, the team signed free-agent linebacker Angelo Crowell, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, to compete for the strongside linebacker spot. The Buccaneers also plan to move safety Jermaine Phillips to weakside linebacker.

Geno Hayes Reportedly Stabbed With Scissors, Knife

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes didn't have a particularly good Saturday evening, as his 19-year-old girlfriend allegedly stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors, and then followed that by stabbing him in the neck with a knife, according to Josh Poltilove of the Tampa Tribune.

Hayes' girlfriend, Shevelle Bagley, has already been released from custody after having bail set at $25,000. Hayes was released from the hospital after being treated for a "superficial wound" to his head.

Buccaneers 27, Panthers 3: Tampa Bay Welcomes Back Jeff Garcia

Tampa Bay ended a five-game home losing streak against Carolina, and in the process took over the top spot in the NFC South with its 27-3 victory on Sunday. And it was all thanks to Jeff Garcia!

Well, not really, but Garcia reclaimed his starting job and played like you would expect Jeff Garcia to play. He was accurate, didn't turn the ball over, and even threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Alex Smith.

In all honesty though, if there was an offensive star for the Buccaneers, it was probably 33-year old running back Warrick Dunn, as the 12-year veteran picked up 115 yards on 22 carries for his first 100-yard game of the season. Actually, it was Dunn's most productive day running the football since week two of the 2006 season when he picked up 134 yards as a member of the Falcons.

FSU's Top Performers Thus Far

We are officially 1/3 of the way through the regular season. After the first 4 games, these are the Seminoles that stood out to me the most:

1. Buster Davis - No surprise here. Buster was named National Defensive Player of the Week after his dominating performance down in Miami and followed that with ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors (even though he's a LB, I don't get that one) in Week 2 vs. Troy. He has been as good as any LB in college this year.

2. Tony Carter - Carter is turning into the shutdown corner we all hoped he would become. Teams have avoided his side of the field as much as possible, even though he stands only 5'9". His 2 blocked kick returns against Clemson are the only reasons that game was even respectable. Hopefully he'll pick up right where he left off when he gets back from his knee injury in a couple weeks.

3. Andre Fluellen - With all of the injuries at the DT position, Fluellen has been counted on more than ever to carry the load inside. He has been an absolute beast, not allowing any sign of an opposing running game up the middle all season.

4. Lawrence Timmons - We haven't heard Timmons's name as much as anticipated this season, but that's not a bad thing. Buster has demanded all the attention (and deservingly so), but Timmons could be every bit as great. You rarely heard Greg Olson's name against Miami right? Guess why.

5a. Geno Hayes - Hayes was all over the field against Miami, making huge play after huge play. His development from his freshman to his sophomore season has really impressed. If he puts on 15 more pounds, watch out.

5b. Joe Surratt - In a valiant effort to sneak an offensive player onto this list, who else but the guy who has scored the most TDs on the team. Surratt has been the short yardage/goal line specialist, racking up 5 TDs in 4 games.

Just missed out: Marcus Ball, Gary Cismesia
