MMA Top 10 Pound-for-Pound: Jose Aldo Makes a Big Move

Two days ago, I don't think anyone had Jose Aldo listed as one of the top 10 pound-for-pound fighters in mixed martial arts. But after what Aldo did to Mike Brown on Wednesday night, I don't think there's any way to exclude him.

MMA Top 10 Pound-for-Pound: Anderson Silva Makes a Move, Not to Top

After a big win at UFC 101, Anderson Silva has moved up the mixed martial arts pound-for-pound rankings. But is he now the No. 1 fighter in the world? Not in my rankings, which are below.

MMA Twitter Mailbag: Pound-for-Pound Rankings Stir Debate

The MMA Twitter mailbag on a Monday morning after a wild weekend in mixed martial arts is all about the pound-for-pound rankings. Is Anderson Silva back on top after his destruction of Forrest Griffin at UFC 101? How high does B.J. Penn climb after whipping Kenny Florian? And what do we do with Brian Bowles and Miguel Torres after Bowles' shocking upset at WEC 42?

Plenty of debate on the matter is below.

UFC Twitter Mailbag: Bisping, Fitch, Fedor and the Next Champ to Lose

Our new UFC twitter mailbag features questions about UFC welterweight Jon Fitch, which UFC fighters could beat Fedor Emelianenko, and my prediction of which UFC champion will be the next to lose his belt. But we start with the brutal knockout at UFC 100.

Anderson Silva No Longer Atop MMA Pound-for-Pound Lists

A year ago, almost everyone considered UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva the best pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts.

What a difference a year makes. Now, hardly anyone considers Silva the best fighter in MMA -- even though the Spider is still the champ, and has gone 3-0 in the past year.

MMA Top 10 Pound for Pound: GSP Gains on Fedor, Still Not Close

Georges St Pierre dominated Thiago Alves for 25 minutes on Saturday night at UFC 100, solidifying his spot as the No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter in mixed martial arts. But he's still not close to No. 1.

I still consider Fedor Emelianenko the best fighter in MMA, in any weight class, by a significant margin. Fedor has a tough test against Josh Barnett on August 1 at Affliction Trilogy, and maybe Barnett will shock the world and force me to reconsider my pound-for-pound rankings, but for now, as you'll see below, it's still Fedor, alone at the top.

MMA Top 10 Welterweights: Will GSP Make the Division Boring?

Georges St. Pierre has, in his last five fights, avenged his only two career losses and beaten the three toughest opponents the UFC could find for him. He's dominated all five fights, winning all 18 rounds. So what's next for GSP?

Take a look after examining my list of the Top 10 welterweights in MMA.

UFC 100 Weigh-In Video

All 22 fighters will step on the scales for the UFC 100 weigh-ins at 7PM ET on Friday, and if you can't be there in Las Vegas, you can watch the weigh-ins here at FanHouse. These weigh-ins should be particularly interesting, as UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will have to spend some time in the sauna to get down to the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds for his fight with Frank Mir, while No. 1 welterweight contender Thiago Alves sometimes has trouble getting down to 170 pounds, which he'll have to do if he wants to take champion Georges St Pierre's belt.

The video is below.

Thiago Alves Promises KO of GSP

There's been so much hype around the Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir rivalry at UFC 100 that I feel like the welterweight title fight between Georges St Pierre and Thiago Alves may be getting overlooked. GSP and Alves have shown nothing but respect for each other, and that's not what sells fights. But Alves did his best in talking to Ray Flores in the above video.
