Does Ottawa Have the Most Famous Group of WAGs in the NHL?

When the Senators acquired Mike Comrie and Chris Campoli before the trade deadline, some of the talk surrounding the trade wasn't about the players themselves. Since the Senators were out of the playoff race at the time some of the discussion revolved around Comrie's significant other, Hillary Duff. Duff could almost always been seen at the Coliseum when Comrie was an Islander and is now a fixture at Scotiabank Place.

Around the same time, music star Carrie Underwood began dating Mike Fisher and started showing up at games. Now, Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Senators have added another famous lady to their All-Star lineup of WAGs.

Carl Pavano's Fiancee Might Make Him More Popular

Carl PavanoThe Big Lead pointed me in the direction of today's Page Six in the New York Post, which reports that Carl Pavano's fiancee Gia Allemand has entered Maxim's 2007 Hometown Hottie Contest.

Being the intrepid journalist that I am, I confirmed this fact (not exactly NSFW, but it is Maxim) and found three pictures. Long-time Yankees fans have been familiar with Gia for a while, and they might be a little disappointed after reading this little nugget tacked onto the bottom of the Page Six item:
The brown-haired beauty had been pursued by Penthouse and agreed to do a photo spread if she could cover her nipples with her long tresses, but the deal fell through when Penthouse told her it had a "no hair over the boobs" policy.
If the New York Times has "All the news that's fit to print," I guess Penthouse can have "No hair over the boobs." And really, you have to applaud Penthouse for sticking to their guns. Sure, letting Gia appear on their pages with her hair draped over her front might have sold a few extra magazines in the Big Apple, but there's something to be said for believing in editorial standards.

No matter what the outcome of the Maxim contest, you have to figure that Gia has a chance to parlay all of this attention into becoming the next Anna Benson -- that went over so well across town with the Mets that they cashed in by trading Anna and Kris Benson to the Orioles before last season. And without even considering the duo's on-again, off-again marriage, the fact Kris may miss the entire 2007 season has certainly diminished Anna's relevancy ... I mean, she did once have some, right?
