It seems like just a few days ago when some idiot blogger heralded the waking of San Antonio's offense in a big win over Houston and its #2 defense. Narcolepsy's the only explanation for the Spurs' impotent attack tonight in Utah -- SAS put up a big 64 points in 85 possessions ... against the #13 defense in the league. As a unit, the Spurs shot awfully -- 36% from the floor and 17% from three. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker got theirs, but Manu Ginobili was 2-for-10, Bruce Bowen and Michael Finley combined to shoot 2-for-8, and Jacques Vaughn spelled TP with an 0-for-4, 0 point, 1 assist, 3 turnover night.
I would not want to be Gregg Popovich's bunkmate tonight. The Spurs might return to Texas one assistant coach lighter. I mean, seriously. Last week: 66 points in 43 possessions against a tip-top defense. Tonight: 64 points in 85 possessions against a mediocre defense. I thought this team was steady and consistent?
