Roman Colon will be taking his glove, iPod, and right hook to Kansas City where he has been traded. Colon, as you may remember, broke his minor league teammate's jaw after getting into an argument about the volume of his iPod. He was later charged with felonius assault.

None of that seemed to matter to Royals GM Dayton Moore, who although he appears to be a solid baseball man, just might lack some basic parental instincts.

"Obviously, there are some legal issues," general manager Dayton Moore said, "but I know Roman Colon (from time together in Atlanta), and I'd trust him with my kids.

"He is a responsible guy with great character who got involved in an unfortunate incident."

When I reached Dayton's children for their response, they just kept repeating over and over,

"Can't sleep. Colon will beat me."

Colon will first be punching teammates with the Royals rookie club in Arizona, but he won't be staying long. Since he's out of options the Royals can only keep him there for a week before they add him to the 25-man roster. Moore is familiar with Colon because he spent a couple of seasons in Atlanta before being shipped to Detroit along with Zach Miner for another angry pugilist, Kyle Farnsworth.

You may remember last month when we told you about Tigers minor-leaguer Roman Colon getting into a fight with a teammate at Triple-A Toledo. As a result of the fight, Mud Hens closer Jason Karnuth had his jaw broken in several places just for trying to break it up. Colon was suspended seven games by the Tigers, but now he's going to have to deal with the law.

Colon was charged with felonious assault, according to an indictment filed Thursday.

What that means is Colon does face possible jail time, but more likely will be placed on probation.

Now in case you don't remember why this fight started, it's because Colon's teammate Virgil Vasquez turned down the volume on Colon's iPod. Apparently you do not want to mess with Roman when he's listening to his beloved Fergie, because if you do, you will be dealt with in a less than gentlemanly fashion.

After serving his suspension Colon was sent down to Double-A Erie, where he's yet to get into a fight with anybody. Of course, the iPhone just came out this week, and for the safety of all those involved I hope that nobody in Erie has bought one yet.
