Tiger Woods Trying to Make Braves Roster

Okay, so that headline is not entirely true, but you have to figure Tiger Woods is going to get tired of destroying everybody on the PGA Tour at some point, and maybe he's going to want a new challenge in his life. Michael Jordan did it, right?

So while Tiger isn't planning on dropping golf for baseball anytime soon, his competitive nature does carry over from the golf course. After playing 18 holes with Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Jeff Francouer on Monday, Tiger decided to enter his friend John Smoltz's domain on Wednesday, facing Smoltz from the batter's box.
Woods donned a batting helmet and Braves jersey (tucked into shorts) and stepped into the batter's box when Smoltz threw three simulated innings at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

According to Braves officials who were present, Woods struck out twice and drew a walk before getting a "controversial" single in his final at-bat.

Tiger's "controversial" single landed within five feet of the cup I'm sure.

Am I the only one who wouldn't have been surprised if Tiger took Smoltz deep? I didn't know the man could fail at anything. Unfortunately, as far as I know there's no video available of this, and I've been looking.

Meet Your Gold Glove Winners

Now that the season is over, and the Hot Stove League has begun, that means it's awards season in baseball. Today baseball got the party started by naming the Gold Glove winners in both the American and National Leagues.

Some of the names on the list won't surprise you, but there are more than a few new faces on this year's list.

American League
C - Ivan Rodriguez
1B - Kevin Youkilis
2B - Placido Polanco
3B - Adrian Beltre
SS - Orlando Cabrera
OF - Grady Sizemore
OF - Torii Hunter
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
P - Johan Santana

National League
C - Russell Martin
1B - Derrek Lee
2B - Orlando Hudson
3B - David Wright
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Carlos Beltran
OF - Andruw Jones
OF - Jeff Francouer
OF - Aaron Rowand
P - Greg Maddux

Apparently in the National League they've instituted a rule that allows for four outfielders on the field at one time. Maybe it's an attempt to make up for the lack of a designated hitter.

As with all lists like these though, there are plenty of arguments for others to be included. I encourage you all to debate it vigorously in the comments section.

The Dugout: Frank Wren Year One

Sometimes it feels worse to see a horrible thing happen to your friend's team than it does to see something horrible happen to your own. What's worse than that is seeing the very same horrible thing that happened to your team happening to your friend's team. That's what happened today. Jon Bois, one of the guys who does The Dugout with me, is a Braves fan. I'm an Orioles fan.

A few years ago we got General Manager Frank Wren. We'll refer to him as "a rhino that got loose in my house." When he was smashing up my house I could just go, "oh, my house!" Now the rhino has burst through my living room door and trampled everything he could trample on the way to my friend's house down the street. I can go "DUDE LOOK OUT, RHINO" as much as I want, but apparently everyone else on the street (Major League Baseball and those that comprise it) chuckles to themselves and asks, "what rhino?" THE RHINO, YOU GOONS, THAT ONE, RIGHT THERE
