After the big three positions in fantasy football, tight end is next in importance. Since you only play one tight end, though, we'll also fill this entry out by discussing some fantasy defenses as well.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The most exciting thing that happened at New York Giants minicamp Wednesday was a press conference to announce Timex as the naming-rights sponsor for the team's new training facility here -- the "Timex Performance Center." It's a beautiful complex, but unless you're the ones pocketing $35 million from the deal over the next 15 years, this wasn't exactly the stuff of big headlines.

That's fine with the Giants, who got their fill of headlines at last year's minicamp.

Coming off a Super Bowl championship, the Giants convened last year amid loud, obnoxious Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress contract controversies. Neither of those players was on the team by year's end, but they were here a year ago, and they were making it noisy. This year ... not so much. And Tom Coughlin couldn't be happier about it.

Two weeks ago, Jeremy Shockey was rolled out of the Hard Rock Casino's "Rehab" pool party on a stretcher suffering from "dehydration," which is basically a sanitized hospital euphemism for "ridiculously wasted." This weekend, Shockey returned to Saints practice and addressed the issue.

"You know what they say, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," Shockey told reporters at the Saints training facility. "That's the past. I'm looking forward to the future."

Predictably, the New Orleans news media fell all over themselves to pat Shockey on the back for his outlandish wit. Did you see what he did there? He took an advertising slogan and made it his own! That is totally awesome.

Or not. At all.

Plaxico Burress' immediate future remains uncertain -- there's still a decent chance he spends some time in the clink -- but this much is clear: the Giants have moved on. They released Plax in early April, and then used two of their first four draft picks on wide receivers at the end of the month. The Giants selected Hakeem Nicks 29th overall, and took Ramses Barden two rounds later.

Both are big receivers -- Nicks, 6-1, 215, has been compared to Anquan Boldin; Barden, 6-6, 226, is more physically similar to Burress -- but rookie wideouts are notoriously slow to transition to the NFL, sometimes taking two or three years to get acclimated. There are exceptions -- Dwayne Bowe and Marques Colston come to mind -- but I don't think the Giants are expecting Pro Bowl-type performances from Nicks or Barden next season.

The difficult contract negotiations between disgruntled receiver Anquan Boldin and the Arizona Cardinals took an interesting turn Tuesday with the news that Boldin has filed paperwork with the players' union to fire agent Drew Rosenhaus and seek new representation.

It's unclear who Boldin's new agent would be as he seeks a restructured contract or a trade from Arizona. The rules require him to wait at least five days after firing his agent to secure a new one. It's also unclear what this means in terms of where Boldin will play in 2009. Heck, it's not even really clear that he's through with Rosenhaus for good. At least not if you believe Rosenhaus's prolific and popular Twitter page.

Update: Shockey was treated for dehydration and was released from the hospital "in good shape," according to an ESPN report.

According to a TMZ report, Jeremy Shockey was taken from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas to a local hospital after being found unconscious at Rehab, the Hard Rock's pool party on Sundays.

As TMZ noted, this is a "developing story" and it's entirely possible that the situation isn't as bad as it initially seems. TMZ also reported that "paramedics tried to cover him up so onlookers -- including a TV camera crew -- couldn't ID him."

NEW YORK -- Entering the draft, the talk revolving around the Saints and their No. 14 pick was that it was either going to be Malcolm Jenkins, Beanie Wells, or Knowshon Moreno. I always felt confident that Jenkins was the Saints' guy, but they apparently did have a very real interest in Wells, as they attempted to move back into the first round after picking Jenkins to acquire the former Ohio St. running back.

Wells plummeted much farther than anyone expected, eventually being selected by the Cardinals at No. 31. But the Saints were working the phones with New England (the teams are frequent draft-day trade partners), ostensibly for the Patriots' 23rd overall pick which was eventually shipped to Baltimore, with Wells in mind. Jay Glazer originally reported the talks, but coach Sean Payton has confirmed them.

Plaxico Burress has yet to make his way through the legal system, but assuming he's a free man this fall, the Giants will gladly welcome him back. General manager Jerry Reese told the New York Daily News that he, head coach Tom Coughlin, and the rest of the organization are "on board" with keeping Burress around -- as long as he's willing to follow the team rules.

You know, the same team rules he so thoughtlessly disregarded right up to the moment he shot himself in the leg last November.

As I said in the last Zebra Report, I'm a guy who believes deeply in accountability, plus, it seems as though many fans were pleasantly surprised at the fact that Mantz posted our preseason NFL predictions. First and foremost, I just wanted to thank Drew Brees. I'm not linking everything, but I told everyone who would listen that he would be a monster this year.

With this in mind, I delved back into my preseason posts to see how I did. I planned on posting all the good and bad things, but the list would be way too long -- and frankly, not very entertaining. I'll just go through and pick out the five most glaring calls on each side, especially if they drew the ire of commenters at the time.

I'll start by first calling myself out for the poor advice, because no one likes arrogance.

I'm an idiot because ...

- I thought Jeremy Shockey and Marvin Harrison would be quality fantasy players this season.

- I was scared of drafting the Giants D/ST.

- I loved Selvin Young. Of course, I should also point out I loved Philip Rivers on that same list.

- I loved the Raiders offense. This piece seriously makes me cringe.

- Rudi Johnson was undervalued? Sigh. Bad, bad fantasy analyst!
