The event features the best of the best, of course, but that does not mean there's no value to be found in the players staying home this weekend.

Also on offense, [Texas A&M coach Dennis] Franchione said running back Jorvorskie Lane has lost about 25 pounds after suffering from a viral infection. Lane had put on weight in the offseason and probably is still close to last season's playing weight of about 275 pounds.

Well, that's one way to get back into playing weight. Strange to say, if not for that viral infection the offseason talk in Aggieland may very well have been what a disgrace Lane had become entering spring 25 pounds overweight and going Jared Lorenzen on them.
