America, get ready to meet Josh Collmenter and his mustache. (Oh, and Todd Jones, eat your freaking heart out buddy.) You see, despite being as yet undiscovered by the AMI for his upper lip greatness, Collmenter already has an evening in South Bend planned in his honor.
Well, actually, it's in the honor of his mustache. Josh Collmenter Mustache Appreciation Night will go down July 23 to celebrate the fur that is -- if you're superstitious -- responsible for the South Bend Silverhawks turnaround.
"We were struggling a month in and some guys said you should grow one out," Collmenter said. "I told them I'll keep it the whole year and not shave it."Collmenter's said he won't shave the 'stash; as he should not. In fact, given the powerful nature of the mustache lately, I'm tempted to toss my razor out completely and beat the hot new trend that is the furry upper lip. Worst case is I'm almost guaranteed to be 50% more efficient at my dayjob.
In not shaving, Collmenter has become the team's most recognizable face -- a face the Silver Hawks plan on honoring. On July 23, the team will host Josh Collmenter Mustache Appreciation Night, at which fans will receive free tickets if they arrive with a Collmenter-esque mustache. It's certainly clear that the Homer, Mich., native has helped uniting players and their community.
