Bills Sign CB Jerametrius Butler; Release RB Josh Scobey

Due to an overwhelming amount of injuries, the Buffalo Bills were forced to sign free agent cornerback Jerametrius Butler yesterday.

Butler, a six-year NFL veteran, was released by Washington in August. Prior to joining the Redskins, Butler spent his entire career in St. Louis with the Rams. He started 31 of 65 games played, collecting 162 tackles, nine interceptions and defending 32 passes.

With Jason Webster out for the season and Terrence McGee suffering through a rib injury, there is a good chance that Butler will be called upon to play immediately. However, it's unlikely that that will be in the starting capacity. Buffalo will most likely continue using Ashton Youboty and Kiwaukee Thomas until McGee returns or Butler becomes more familiar with the system.

In order to make room for Butler, the Bills released running back/special-teamer Josh Scobey.

Atlanta Falcons @ Buffalo Bills: Week Two Preseason Injury Report

Taking into account that it's the preseason, many of the players sitting on the sidelines tonight would normally be on the field if it was a meaningful game. With that said, I'm sure most fans would like to know who they should expect to see this evening. For that reason, I've done by best to create an accurate injury report -- official reports are not posted until week one of the regular season.

Atlanta Falcons:

Out: Running back Warrick Dunn (back), tight end Alge Crumpler (knee) and defensive tackle Rod Coleman (thigh).

Questionable: Linebacker Demorrio Williams (pectoral), running back Jerious Norwood (illness) and wide receiver Dante Hall (back).

Probable: Guard Kynan Forney (back).

Buffalo Bills @ New Orleans Saints: Week One Preseason Injury Report

Taking into account that it's the preseason, many of the players sitting on the sidelines tonight would normally be on the field if it was a meaningful game. With that said, I'm sure most fans would like to know who they should expect to see this evening. Buffalo Bills:

Out: Tackle Brad Butler (hamstring) and running back Josh Scobey (calf).

Questionable: Guard Aaron Merz (shoulder) and safety Donte Whitner (hip)

Probable: Running back Dwayne Wright (allergies) and cornerback Jason Webster (hamstring).

Bills Sign Former Seahawk Josh Scobey

The Buffalo Bills have added yet another running back today. According to their official site, the team has come to an agreement with free agent running back Josh Scobey.

Scobey, a special teams ace in Seattle, is likely to fill the same role in Buffalo. Throughout his career he has 40 special teams tackles and averages 22.4 yards per kick return.

However, given the Bills current running back plans, there is a good chance that if Scobey makes the team he'll see some carries. If that does turn out to be the case, he'll need significant work in the preseason. He hasn't had an official carry since 2004 with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bills now have six running backs on their roster.

Bills Meet With Josh Scobey and Alex Bannister

According to Mike Sando of the News Tribune, the Buffalo Bills met with Josh Scobey and Alex Bannister earlier this week. There were no details on any contract negotiations or plans for revisits.

Scobey is an excellent special teams and was the heart and soul of that unit in Seattle. Although he has little value as a running back, adding talent on special teams is always a plus. However, with the Bills likely carrying up to four or five running backs on the roster, it's unlikely that Scobey would have a spot.

Like Scobey, Bannister is better known for his special teams ability. He's listed as a wide receiver, with good side I might add, but has little value at that position.

Both missed time last season due to various injuries.
