Rowland: 'Small-Town' to Fight Town

Elie Seckbach, the Embedded Correspondent, brings his exclusive video reporting to FanHouse. Check back regularly for more videos.

Troy Rowland considers himself "a down-to-earth, small-town guy," even though that town is Grand Rapids, Mich., hometown of the great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But on Saturday in one of boxing's meccas, Las Vegas, the fighter with no nickname has a chance to make a name for himself against unbeaten Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of a legendary Mexican great. Chavez-Rowland takes place on the undercard of Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand.

See what's on Rowland's mind in the video after the jump.

What's Next for Bob Arum's Many Stars?

TAMPA, Fla. -- With eyes fixated on perspiration-soaked, WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto's workout, Bob Arum surveyed his latest promotional responsibility at The Fight Factory gymnasium like an artist appreciating his most recent piece.

"Miguel is just a fighter with great, great heart," said Arum, whose 42 years in boxing began with the Muhammad Ali victory over George Chuvalo -- his first of 26 fights involving the man many call "The Greatest" -- and included the George Foreman comeback.

A 78-year-old Harvard graduate and attorney, Arum also handled every fight of Marvelous Marvin Hagler's career, as well as substantial portions of those of Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

FanHouse caught up with Arum on Tuesday during Cotto's training in Florida for his Nov. 14 defense against Manny Pacquiao to discuss the futures of Cotto, Pacquiao, and several other fighters he promotes.

Pacquiao-Cotto Undercard Beefed Up

Undefeated junior middleweights Yuri Foreman, and, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (pictured) are among those who will be featured on the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto undercard on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

A 29-year-old rabbinical student, Foreman was born in Belarus, raised in Israel and now lives in Brooklyn.

Chavez is the 23-year-old son of the legendary three-division world champion by the same.

A native of Culiacan, Mex., Chavez (40-0-1, 30 knockouts) will meet Troy Rowland (25-2, seven) of Grand Rapids, Mich., in a 10-round middleweight matchup.
