DREAM.12 Results

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem tapped out British veteran James Thompson with a first-round standing guillotine in the main event of Sunday's DREAM.12 at the Osaka-jo Hall in Osaka, Japan.

Thompson immediately tried to rush Overeem, but was shrugged off. Overeem launched a high flying knee that almost caught his own left arm on the top of the cage. Thompson rushed Overeem once more but was caught in Overeem's trademark choke.

Tatsuya Kawajiri, Kazushi Sakuraba Win Mismatches at DREAM.11

Tatsuya Kawajiri and Kazushi Sakuraba were in action at DREAM.11 Tuesday to fill seats and as expected, each walked away promptly with a W on their record.

Japanese MMA Legend Sakuraba to Fight American Boxer Rubin Williams

If I told you that the UFC was bringing Royce Gracie out of retirement and putting him in the Octagon with some washed-up boxer you'd never heard of, would you think that was a good idea? Probably not. But the folks at the Japanese MMA promotion Dream are doing something awfully similar, matching up the legendary Kazushi Sakuraba with American boxer Rubin Williams in an utterly ridiculous Dream 11 bout.

Renzo Gracie Plans Return to Action

MMA pioneer Renzo Gracie is in the midst of helping Matt Serra prepare for his UFC 98 grudge match with Matt Hughes, but he also has some personal long-term goals in mind. Gracie, who has not fought in over two years, recently told TriStateFighter.com that he plans to return to action in late 2009.

Gracie has not fought since February 2007 in the maiden voyage of EliteXC, and was awarded a victory in the main event after Frank Shamrock was disqualified for delivering an illegal knee while Gracie was grounded.

Gracie has fought just four times in the last five years, and is 13-6 with one draw and one no contest in his career.
