Kelly Slater Hits NYC and L.A. for New Book

Kelly Slater knows something about timing. The world's best surfer secured his record ninth world title last month and also celebrated the release of a new book, "For The Love," about his life and love (of surfing). The 192-page book features 200 photos and was written by Slater and Phil Jarratt. Slater's longtime friend and fellow surfer Jack Johnson (you may know him as famous singer-songwriter Jack Johnson) pens the introduction.

Now Slater will be in person at Quiksilver stores in NYC and L.A. to sign copies of the book (just $35!). Of course, there is a catch -- only 200 people will be let in, so get there early. Locations are below.

Hottest Male Athlete Bracket: Handicapping the 'Sexy 16'

During this quiet time in the sports calendar, AOL Sports created a bracket where you can vote for the hottest male and hottest female athletes because judging the outer beauty of famous accomplished athletes is more socially acceptable than just surfing for porn.

The first round is over, and now it's time to vote for what they call the "Sexy 16." I think the premise of my first round predictions for the most part came true: that usually the most famous player would win unless the other guy happened to get a much better picture in the bracket.

Upsets:

Is this a hotness or popularity contest?

As predicted, both Tony Romo and Brady Quinn won their first round matchups based I think by their popularity in the US. Romo beat soccer stud Ronaldo, 55% to 45%. A number of Ronaldo fans commented that they thought Ronaldo's picture in the bracket wasn't shirtless enough. I have to say, I agree, but Cowboy fans really love Romo in a manly oh please let him be the next great pink shirted Cowboy quarterback way.
