Anquan Boldin Dismisses NFC Championship Game Altercation

Emotions are a part of football. And the higher the stakes, the higher the emotions usually run. So it was somewhat unsurprising that Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin became upset when he was removed from the field during the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

However, the altercation, and Boldin's ensuing rapid exit from the stadium, did become a pretty large deal, generating media waves and plenty of questions about Boldin's relationship with offensive coordinator Todd Haley and coach Ken Wisenhunt. On Monday, Boldin popped into ESPN's NFL Live and dismissed the blow-up as a being a real issue.

Welcome to day one of the Super Bowl Prop Bet 13 Step Program to Gambling Greatness. Catchy title, no? Well, fine -- if not catchy, at least it's short. Anyway, the point being is that as the countdown to the Super Bowl begins, you, the reader, the degenerate, the gambler, need to be prepared to lay down some crazy bets once that magic Sunday rolls around. That's why I'm here.

(Note: you may be better served simply betting against me, given recent history, but that's your own prerogative.)

Cardinals 32, Eagles 25: No, Seriously, the Arizona Cardinals Win the NFC

It was highly unlikely, both at the start of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs, that the Arizona Cardinals would be your Super Bowl representative from the NFC. And it seemed fairly unlikely at the beginning of the NFC Championship Game's third quarter too. But it's happening anyway.

Anquan Boldin Is Inactive for the NFC Divisional Game Tonight

Notes from the press box at Bank of America Stadium for Panthers - Cardinals.

Anquan Boldin gave his hamstring a run, testing it on the field early on in the evening in Charlotte. But apparently, he didn't feel like he would be capable of completing the game or actually contributing with a high level of play.

Or Ken Wisenhunt was worried about wasting "a roster spot." Or something inane like that.

Regardless of why, though, Boldin won't suit up; the Panthers media relations people just passed out the inactive sheet, and he's by far and away the biggest name on the list. Unless you think Brian St. Pierre could get some run if both Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart got hurt.

Random YouTube Magic: Anquan Boldin Gets KTFO by Eric Smith's Cheap Shot

Eric Smith destroyed Anquan Boldin in yesterday's Cardinals/Jets game to the point that Boldin had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. It was a cheap shot -- helmet to helmet, natch -- which you will see if you wait for the replay to slow down.

The problems with this hit are astounding. First of all, what the hell was Ken Wisenhunt thinking here, having Boldin in during a blowout? More importantly though, what the hell was Smith thinking, throwing a helmet-to-helmet shot on Boldin during a blowout? It was a completely unnecessary injury and unfortunate that it had to happen.

On the bright side, Boldin is "alert" and moving his extremities, but still, totally unnecessary on a number of counts.

Old Man Ball(s): Favre Tosses Six TDs While Warner Notches Six Turnovers in Jets Blowout

Just your typical throwback style of gunslinger.

Brett Favre and the Jets are just rubbing it in at this point. They went for a two point conversion with 54 -- yes, 54 -- points already on the board. That gave them a 56-35 over the Arizona Cardinals. That score means a few things.

First of all, the Arizona defense probably will be dealing with a Titanic-sized shame spiral on Monday morning. Not as big a spiral as Kurt Warner though (this being point number two), who fumbled the ball four times, three of which were lost, and threw three not so intelligent interceptions.

As for point three, it probably doesn't feel really great to be Matt Leinart; after all, when you're a first round draft pick and the ageless wonder in front of you coughs the ball up six times and your team is getting blown out, well, you expect to see a little action.
