Erin Andrews Talks About Inspirations, Toughening Up ... and Contra Codes

Erin Andrews. Google her name and you'll get about 771,000 results, many of which are blogs that obsess over the ESPN sportscaster's every word. But meet her in person and you'll find a woman who may seem like you or I, stunning good looks aside. She loves sports, remembers old Nintendo games, and yes, does get her feelings hurt from time to time.

FanHouse recently had a chance to chat with the most popular female sports reporter at the NCAA Football 10 premiere party to find out what drives her, what gets under her skin, and whether she'd drop her career to be a backup dancer for Britney Spears. Our full interview with Andrews is below.

Knowshon Moreno an NFL Draft Shocker to the Broncos at 12

Smokescreening was a major part of the pre-NFL Draft festivities, but I don't think anyone ever saw the Denver Broncos selecting Knowshon Moreno, the running back from Georgia, with the 12th overall pick in the draft.

But then all of a sudden, ESPN was showing video of Moreno, who didn't appear to even think about being selected, answering the telephone. And suddenly there was chaos: the Broncos actually picked him!

Not to get all hyperbolic on you with the exclamation points, but this is another nightmare feather in coach Josh McDaniels' cap; Keyshawn Johnson called him "arrogant," immediately folllowing the pick, and considering he basically forced Jay Cutler out of town, people in Denver might be wondering about their new coach right now.

Got Any Good Fantasy Draft Stories?

Even in the internet age of fantasy sports, I still think many players only partake in the games against groups of friends. Many of these leagues have live drafts in person, and the stories that come from these drafts are always great -- especially when alcohol is prominently involved. In fact, if you play fantasy sports and you don't have at least one of these a year, you are really missing out.

Anyway, we here at FanHouse -- being the house of true sports fans, after all -- decided to give fantasy sports fans an avenue to tell their favorite draft day stories. It can involve mocking a friend, someone making a fool of him or herself, or just a really bad pick. Here are a few to get the chain started.

Key and Cris Hate Terrell, Love Anquan

Calling Terrell Owens the "poison pill" in Dallas is one of the nicest things Keyshawn Johnson has said about the Cowboys receiver. And Cris Carter, not to be outdone by his ESPN colleague, has suggested that Jerry Jones should consider putting "a bullet in [T.O.]"

So it is with great mock stupefaction that I report that Johnson and Carter have double standards regarding moody NFL receivers. The Dallas Morning News' Barry Horn points out that during NFL Sunday Countdown, both Keyshawn and Cris backed Anquan Boldin in the aftermath of last Sunday's sideline confrontation with offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

Keyshawn: Gruden's 'Not Humble Enough' for Dallas, T.O.'s the 'Poison Pill'

Keyshawn Johnson, for all his antics on the field as a player, is quickly making himself famous for his brash and bold commentary in the studio. ESPN, I'm sure, is just distraught over this behavior.

Recently, Key called out Jake Delhomme for 'trust' issues and, well, I could list the folks, but it's pretty much everyone. Now he's turned his expertise towards Jon Gruden and Terrell Owens. Namely, he doesn't really think that Chucky has what it takes to coach the Dallas Cowboys. And he doesn't think T.O. is really "good" for Big D.

Keyshawn Johnson Will Probably Have Some Comments About Delhomme Tomorrow

Jake Delhomme's best throw of the evening*. Keyshawn = not impressed.

Notes from the press box at Bank of America Stadium for Panthers - Cardinals.

Keyshawn Johnson said, as the Panthers were closing out their season, that he didn't trust Jake Delhomme as a quarterback. Well, after Delhomme's performance tonight against the Cardinals, it's pretty hard to argue that he's wrong.

Delhomme threw five interceptions and fumbled once -- ALL ON HIS FREAKING BIRTHDAY, NO LESS -- and generally stunk up the joint in Carolina. With three minutes remaining (and very few fans left), he's actually being forced to take the field again with the possibility of matching an NFL playoff-record six interceptions 34 years to the day after he was born.

Keyshawn Johnson Says He Doesn't 'Trust Jake Delhomme'

Keyshawn Johnson says a lot of things that are relatively unimportant. But as far as ESPN Sunday morning analysts go, he's not that bad. Still, it's probably a bit aggressive to dog Jake Delhomme the way he did this morning, considering that he was on the Panthers for all of, oh, one year.
I don't trust Jake [Delhomme]. I've played with him. He's a good guy and everything, but in this situation he'll try to do too much if they put the ball in his hands, try to throw hand grenades like in Green Bay.
Well, obviously Key missed that whole "Smash and Dash" thing -- you know, where the Panthers run the ball about 40 times to wear the defense down and let Jake do his thing on third down if he has to, while picking spots to hit Steve Smith downfield.

Additionally, it's not like Jake hasn't taken a Panthers team to the Super Bowl or performed at an All-Pro level -- he has. And to further the point, if the Panthers put the ball in Jake's hand tonight, well, that's just plain stupidity on the coaching staff's part; the plan, as far as anyone should be concerned, is nothing more than a heavy dose of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

T.O. on Keyshawn, Emmitt: 'Those Two Need Their Own Show - Dumb and Dumber'

Terrell Owens and Keyshawn Johnson have a history of clowning each other that dates back to last season. Two months ago, T.O. took time out from complaining that he wasn't getting the ball enough to take a few shots at "Sheshawn." And then, last week, Johnson's ESPN colleague Emmitt Smith announced that the 2008 Cowboys were nothing more than mediocre, which after what happened Sunday, it probably a fair assessment.

Shockingly, Owens isn't terribly impressed with Johnson or Smith. According to the Dallas Morning News' Tim MacMahon, T.O. says he doesn't watch ESPN, but he has plenty to say about two of its NFL analysts who formerly played for the Cowboys. (And the media didn't even have to ask him -- he just starting taking shots!)

Joey Porter Thinks He'd Have 3 Super Bowl Rings if Patriots Hadn't Cheated

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is playing against the New England Patriots today, and he's thinking about times he's played against the Patriots in the past.

Specifically, he's recalling the two times he played against the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And according to Porter, the Steelers would have won both of those games -- and Porter would have ended up winning two more Super Bowl rings -- if the Patriots hadn't cheated.

Porter said in an interview with Keyshawn Johnson on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown that he still believes Patriots coach Bill Belichick's practice of taping the other team's sideline in violation of NFL rules is the reason the Patriots beat the Steelers in those two AFC Championships.

Keyshawn Johnson Thinks Matt Cassel Was a Coin Flip Away From Being USC Starter, Star

Apparently, Keyshawn Johnson has fully recovered from the Warren Sapp verbal broadside and is back to talking football, the gig that doesn't require him to know the difference between an étagère and an English basement.

The former USC grad, one-time Jets first-round pick, and now-analyst for ESPN's NFL Countdown thinks the Patriots' Matt Cassel could've very easily been something more than a draft-day afterthought if not for the laws of probability. Via the Palm Beach Post's Edgar Thompson:
"(Cassel) was the coin flip from being the starter at USC," said Johnson ... "It's like one day Pete Carroll wakes up and says Matt Leinart. Pete Carroll wakes up another morning and says Cassel. ... If he says Cassel, does SC win two national championships, does he win the Heisman? Matt Leinart caught fire and there was no looking to replace him at point."
Thompson then writes: "Now, Cassel is one of the NFL's hottest quarterbacks, coming off a 400-yard game, and the league's most improbable stories as he continues to lead the Tom Brady-less Patriots. Meanwhile Leinart is wasting away on the Arizona bench while Kurt Warner makes a run at his third MVP award."

I see where he's going with there, but Cassel is not "one of the NFL's hottest quarterbacks." Yes, he had a 400-yard game in a losing effort against the Jets, but he seldom throws ball down the field and he's got the luxury of playing in the most potent offense in the universe, not to mention a JV schedule.
