Ko Simpson, Recently Arrested, Should Probably Consult His Accountant

Ko Simpson is rich, son. At least according to Ko. Because if you ask me, there are richer places to spend New Year's Eve than Rock Hill, South Carolina. (Like, say, for instance, Garner, North Carolina. Or perhaps Buffalo, New York.) But Rock Hill is where Ko decided to hang out as 2009 kicked off, and as a result, he landed himself on the old police blotter after reportedly hindering a police investigation.
Officers went to a Rock Hill bar just after 2 a.m. to help security with crowd control, according to the report. While police were there, security officers at the bar stopped 28-year-old Frederick Hart for speeding through the parking lot, the report stated. Hart became angry and argued with officers, refusing to leave. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Simpson was in Hart's vehicle and "was being verbally abusive" to police, the report stated. He was asked to leave several times, but kept saying, "I'm Ko Simpson with the Buffalo Bills. I am worth millions," according to the Herald.
Of course, Ko is from Rock Hill, so we should probably cut him a little slack on choices of locale. His place of birth, however, certainly doesn't excuse talking to police officers like he was the son of a country club's former president after being cut off from drinking any more liquor at a deb ball. Not that I would know anything about that.

Additionally, Ko's contract, as Dashiell points out, is only a "scant" four years and $2.13 million ... with one year left. So, yeah, unless Ko hasn't spent any money since turning pro and has been immune to the stock market over that time, it's fair to say his statement is a touch premature.

Weekly Injury Wrap: Bills Are Limping to Pittsburgh

Here's a look at the injury report for this week's Bills-Steelers game.

BUFFALO BILLS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS - Bills:
OUT: DE Ryan Denney (foot), LB Keith Ellison (ankle), TE Kevin Everett (neck), S Ko Simpson (ankle), CB Jason Webster (forearm), LB Coy Wire (knee). QUESTIONABLE: WR Josh Reed (thigh). Steelers: OUT: LB Marquis Cooper (hamstring)

The Bills are clearly much more banged up than the Steelers. Ko Simpson, Keith Ellison and Jason Webster are all starters, and in Ellison's case, his backup Coy Wire is also injured, even if he isn't listed on the injury report. John DiGiorgio is expected to replace Ellison/Wire. Jim Leonhard will replace Simpson at safety while Ashton Youbounty will step in at cornerback.

This is the first start for the trio. But that's not the only bad news for the Bills. Losing defensive end Ryan Denney will affect the Bills' ability to keep starting defensive ends Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schoebel fresh. And with the Steelers desire to use lots of three and four wide-receiver sets, the Bills will have to count on backup cornerbacks Kiwaukee Thomas and Jabari Greer to step up and fill larger roles. Both have some experience, so the Bills aren't in a hopeless situation, but another injury or two would be crippling.

On the other side of the ball, Everett's main focus now is to try to walk again, but he will also be missed in the Bills passing game. Lynch and Reed should both play.

For the Steelers Cooper would likely be inactive if he was healthy, so his injury is no big deal while Townsend is expected to play.

Bills Sign Bryan Scott and Copeland Bryan; Meet With Nick Greisen

The Buffalo Bills signed two fee agents today, and met with third in an attempt to fill some of gaping holes caused by a variety of injuries.

The first addition was four-year veteran safety Bryan Scott, who was released by the Tennessee Titans earlier this year. He will take Ko Simpson's roster spot, but play a reserve role behind Jim Leonhard, who has now assumed the starting job.

Buffalo also signed defensive end Copeland Bryan off of the Chicago Bears practice squad, where he spent the last two offseasons. Like Scott, Bryan will join the Bills in a reserve capacity.

Finally, the team also worked out former New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Nick Greisen. If signed, Greisen would probably come right in and start for Buffalo, who are now without Keith Ellison and Coy Wire for the foreseeable future.

Broncos Ride Elam's Leg to Victory; Bills Suffer Terrifying Injuries

The Bills lost a lot more than just the game this afternoon against Denver. And while the last-second field by Broncos kicker Jason Elam was heartbreaking, Buffalo has to be far more concerned with the various injuries suffered throughout the game.

Perhaps the most disconcerting was the injury sustained by tight end Kevin Everett, who was taken out in an ambulance after a helmet-to-helmet hit in the third quarter. He appeared to lose consciousness before hitting the ground, and it is not yet known if it has been regained.

In addition to Everett, safety Ko Simpson suffered a broken ankle, cornerback Jason Webster suffered a broke forearm and Coy Wire sprained his knee. And while they all appear to be serious, they pale in comparison to Everett's injury, which may end up being career, or even life threatening.
