Injuries to Watch: Week 8

Brian WestbrookWhether it's torn, sprained, broken or just needs to be taped, Injuries to Watch will keep you up to date on injuries around the NFL and how they'll affect your fantasy football team.

Quarterback

Trent Edwards, Bills - Edwards has been ruled out for Week 8. He participated in practice on Wednesday but only in a limited capacity. He's not recovering as quickly from the concussion as the medical staff would like, even though he's been cleared to play. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in his place.

Matthew Stafford, Lions - Stafford practiced fully on Tuesday but was limited on Wednesday with his knee injury. The fact that he practiced two days in a row is a step in the right direction, but it's still not known whether or not he'll be able to start on Sunday.

Damage Control: No Broken Bones for Anquan Boldin

Anquan BoldinDid the injury bug hit your fantasy football team like it was a car windshield moving at 100 MPH? If so, it may be time to do some Damage Control.

Quarterback

Daunte Culpepper, Lions - Culpepper calls the injury a tweak, others call it a slight hamstring pull. Drew Stanton played the majority of the second half on Sunday and nobody knows who will be the Lions quarterback in Week 7.

Joe Flacco, Ravens - Flacco was noticeably limping on Sunday after his foot was trampled. He has a bye week this week -- rest will do him good.

Trent Edwards, Bills - Edwards took a blow to the head on Sunday. The Bills aren't using the word concussion until further tests have been completed.

So Long, Suckers: Depth Chart Shakeup

Fed up with one of your players? Eyeballing a player on the wire, but don't know who to drop? So Long, Suckers examines a few players widely-owned that probably shouldn't be.

Jim Zorn, facing a likely dismissal if his team dropped to 2-4, decided it was time for a change at QB, benching Jason Campbell in favor of Todd Collins. Well, the Redskins lost anyway, as your fantasy team likely did if you started Campbell as your QB1 (unless you were facing a Kerry Collins-led team, yeesh).

Luckily, you should have more options available to you than either Collins. Get rid of Campbell, owned in 58% of Fleaflicker leagues, as the Washington QB has likely flubbed his last chance to be an NFL starter.

Sink or Swim: Farewell to the Timeshare

It's another session of "Sink or Swim," Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

Well, I've already covered the ailing Cowboys receivers, so go ahead and move on. This was supposed to be the week I was all ready to tell you to rid yourselves of Darren McFadden (now injured) and Braylon Edwards (traded to Jets). They already dodged the hot seat for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean you should hold onto any member of the Oakland Raiders, sorry Zach Miller.

Moving on, Thursday's fantasy hot seat is all about the timeshare running backs. The concept alone is like nails on a chalkboard to any proud fantasy owner. Not every timeshare running back has been a resounding success this season. And so, let's welcome a few of these underwhelming running backs to "sink or swim."

Which 'Big Name' Players Can You Cut?

Braylon EdwardsStash or Trash tells you whether a prospective fantasy football pickup (or drop) is worthy of your roster spot.

Name value is a key component in fantasy sports. Take, for instance, Braylon Edwards. You know he sucks. I know he sucks. Heck, LeBron James knows he sucks. (Bob Costas and Buzz Bissinger might be the only people on the planet that like him, actually.) But yet ... everyone keeps drafting him! I'm guilty of pulling trigger on him late, as well, because he's so talented and it seemed like "value."

So, the question that we have to ask today is, "When can you cut a big name?" Actually, we're going to answer the question. I guess that would help out a lot more, huh?

Fantasy Football Sunday Wrap: Time to Drop All Raiders

Sunday Evening Wrap checks out players who increased or decreased their value during the Sunday afternoon games.

Faller of the Week:
Everyone on the Oakland Raiders. The Houston Texans entered the game as one of the league's worst defenses. They were the worst in the NFL against the run. Sunday, the Raiders gained just 165 yards and only a single first down on the ground against those same Texans. I'm done with Darren McFadden. Michael Bush and Justin Fargas shouldn't be considered viable fantasy contributors in any format, and I'd even give up on Zach Miller (which isn't his fault, but he's not going to put up stats for this embarrassingly inept offense). This team is dead to me, and they should be to you, too.

Injuries to Watch: Week 4

Chad PenningtonWhether it's torn, sprained, broken or just needs to be taped, Injuries to Watch will keep you up to date on injuries around the NFL and how they'll affect your fantasy football team.

Quarterback

Chad Pennington, Dolphins - Pennington is done for the season. If he's still on your fantasy roster, well, then you're not paying attention.

Marc Bulger, Rams - Bulger did not practice on Thursday. In fact, he hasn't thrown a pass all week. He's likely not going to play on Sunday.

Jason Campbell, Redskins - Campbell said on Thursday that his ankle was still sore but he would play on Sunday.

What Next For Stafon Johnson, USC?

Folks around USC are experiencing those classic feelings of relief Tuesday after senior back Stafon Johnson came out of surgery alive and with a good prognosis after his dramatic weight lifting incident Monday afternoon.

Johnson emerged from seven hours of complicated surgery conscious and cognizant, but unable to speak, communicating through writing and hand signals. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a while and will likely miss the rest of this season.

So, where does that leave his career? And how does USC move forward without its most effective short yardage runner since LenDale White? In the short term there's tremendous uncertainty for both although each has unusual resources at their disposal that could make for a special reunion if the parties can individually clear particular hurdles.

Fantasy Football Over/Under: Week 2

Here's how it works. We throw some intriguing matchups at the FanHouse staff and ask whether each player will be over or under a certain point total. The result? Fantasy Football Over/Under. Makes sense, right?

So you picked up some of the breakout Week 1 performers, and now you're wondering whether or not you should give them the start in Week 2. Earl Bennett, Mario Manningham, Chansi Stuckey ... the list goes on and on. Or you might be debating whether Matt Schaub and Steven Jackson can bounce back. The FanHouse staff weighed in on some of the more tricky matchups of Week 2 in this week's Over/Under.
