More Bad News For Raiders: Chaz Schilens Goes Down

Chaz SchilensAs the Oakland Raiders try to move forward from Punch-Gate and put together their first winning season since Jerry Rice was their leading receiver, they have already received some more bad news. Chaz Schilens, who was definitely shaping up as their best receiver, has suffered a relatively serious injury.

According to FanHouse's Nancy Gay (via e-mail), who is in Raiders camp today, Schilens has a fractured 5th metatarsal bone in his left foot. He currently has a boot on it. There is no word yet on if he'll require surgery.

Fantasy Football Team Preview: Raiders

With Fantasy Football season ready to kick in high gear, FanHouse is here to preview each and every team -- one per day until we've done them all.

Meet the ...
Running game that needs help from the passing game. One thing is for sure, the Oakland Raiders can run the football. They finished 10th in the NFL last season in rushing offense. The problem is that they only had nine rushing touchdowns (only three teams had less), which we can attribute to the fact that the Raiders had the worst passing offense in the NFL.

If the Raiders can find a way to stretch the field and move the ball through the air, expect the rushing game to get even better.

Did Oakland Pick the Wrong Guy?

Coming off their sixth consecutive non-playoff season, the Oakland Raiders entered the 2009 NFL draft with a number of holes. With the seventh overall pick, they couldn't have made a bad selection in terms of position. Offensive tackle, wide receiver, defense ... all would have been wise choices.

As it turns out, the Raiders went with a potential playmaking receiver for third year quarterback JaMarcus Russell. In theory, it's a solid move. Too bad they took the wrong receiver.

LeSean McCoy Heads List of 'Other' Fantasy Relevant Players

We've already given a single post to each of the seemingly most relevant fantasy football impact players from the NFL Draft -- we say seemingly because bust-hood is always a possibility in this business -- but those are by no means the only players who might matter in this coming season. With that in mind, here are the rest of the guys who's impact will be felt:

LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles (Round 2): If you end up with Brian Westbrook, you absolutely must have McCoy. The shifty stud from Pittsburgh is exactly the type of back Westbrook is, which means he can thrive in this offense.

BCS National Championship Game: Florida Scores First, Oklahoma Storms Back

After a first quarter of the BCS National Championship Game in which the teams felt each other out and didn't do much damage, both Florida and Oklahoma have turned up the heat early in the second quarter.

Less than a minute into the first quarter, Florida took a 7-0 lead when Tim Tebow hit Louis Murphy for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Murphy reached the ball over the goal line just as he was being tackled and the ball came loose, but the ball had already crossed the goal line.

But it didn't take Oklahoma long to respond. The Sooners marched down the field 65 yards on six plays, culminating with Sam Bradford hitting Jermaine Gresham for a six-yard touchdown. It's currently 7-7 midway through the second quarter.
