Judge Rejects Michael Vick's Plan to Repay Creditors

Michael Vick is under the impression that he has "10 or 12 more years" left in his professional football career. At least that's what he told the judge at his bankruptcy hearing on Thursday. At 28, having spent nearly two years in the clink, and last taking an NFL snap in 2006, the notion that Vick could play another decade borders on the insane.

That said, I get where he's coming from: he owes a lot of people a lot of money, and unless he plans on living to the age of 400, that $10-a-hour construction gig won't do him much good.

Marcus Vick Pleads Guilty to Drunken Driving

At this point, is he just doing it to keep up with Pacman Adam Jones?

Honestly, that's not a completely off-base question to be asked in regards to ne'er-do-well Marcus Vick after his latest run-in with the law. In this case, Vick has been convicted of drunken driving, as well as, as the report ominously states, "other charges." For the time being, we know the miscellany to include eluding police (I guess he's lost a step since 2005) and driving on the wrong side of the road.

On the one hand, it's another troubling turn in the personal life of a really, really disturbed (and possibly bored with Michael in jail) guy. On the other, it's pretty amazing that in 2008, a Marcus Vick arrest somehow still manages to get headline treatment by ESPN.

So, you know -- maybe Mark Cuban takes a chance when the time inevitably comes for him to show and prove in the UFL.

Delicia Cordon, Woman Arrested With Marcus Vick, Previously Sued Ronnie Brown

Two weeks ago, former Dolphins wide receiver Marcus Vick was arrested with the woman whose picture you see at right, Delicia Cordon. Vick was charged with drunk driving. Cordon, an aspiring model and actress, was charged with being drunk in public.

Cordon was identified as Vick's girlfriend, but she apparently has some type of history with Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown. The web site of the Miami-Dade County Clerk's Office says that Cordon filed a lawsuit against Brown, although that suit was dismissed when Cordon failed to show up for a hearing this month.

The publicly available information doesn't make clear why Cordon was suing Brown, and as Pro Football Talk notes, it's even possible that the case involves a different Delicia Cordon or a different Ronnie Brown. The web site RipOffReport.com says Cordon was evicted from a Miami condo owned by one NFL player this year, and that she recently got "out of a really bad relationship with another player." It's not clear whether either of those players are Vick or Brown.

For Marcus Vick, Being Unemployed Isn't as Bad as You Might Think

Getting busted for DUI by a cop on a bicycle sounds like the perfect end to a perfect evening. As MDS noted yesterday, New Mexico was arrested and charged with driving drunk after leaving a club with his girlfriend/model Delicia Cordon. The Daily Press has the moving pictures to prove it.

Perhaps the most amazing thing in all this is that when Mr. Investigative Reporter went to Marcus Vick's house the day after the arrest (shockingly, Vick didn't answer), we learn that he lives in a mansion (roughly 2:00 into the video).

I remember hearing rumors that Ron Mexico gave his younger brother $1 million as a birthday gift a few years ago, but I figured it was just the internets run amok. Maybe not. Unless, of course, guys recently out of college with no job prospects can afford such luxurious living as a former NFL practice-squad player.

Whatever, the Palm Beach Post's Tim Graham has a detailed takedown of Vick's ladyfriend.
The video report includes a look at the wannabe beauty queen (but heretofore half-clothed eye candy) Vick was with. She claims to be an actress, but that would be like Vick claiming he's a football player.

Delicia Cordon is a deadbeat, according to court records KTKA says have been filed in Virginia and Florida.

But she reportedly has six racy MySpace pages in her name, and this arrest might actually turn out to be good for Cordon's career as a celebutant, what with all the page views she must be getting.
Glad to see somebody still has an outside shot at a celebrity career.

Ex-Dolphin Marcus Vick Arrested for DUI

Marcus Vick, the former Virginia Tech quarterback and Miami Dolphins wide receiver who until last year was known as the more troubled of the Vick brothers, has been arrested and charged with DUI today, the Virginian-Pilot reports.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, a bicycle officer approached a couple arguing in a car around 2 a.m. When the officer asked for the man's identification, the car sped off, but another officer later stopped it.

Vick was driving, and he failed a sobriety test, so he was charged with DUI, misdemeanor eluding police, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. The woman in the car was charged with being drunk in public.

Marcus Vick had several off-field problems at Virginia Tech and was ultimately kicked out of school. Older brother Michael Vick is currently serving a 23-month prison sentence for operating a dog fighting ring.

Michael Vick Buys Place in Florida -- Bankruptcy Coming Next?

Suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is selling off his multimillion-dollar pad in Georgia, but that's not the only real estate transaction Vick is making.

The New York Post reports that Vick just bought a place in an expensive high rise in Miami, a high rise where Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat also owns a condo. Although Vick, who will be sentenced on Dec. 10 after pleading guilty to federal felony charges related to dog fighting, isn't allowed to leave Virginia, his brother, former Dolphin Marcus Vick, has been staying at the place, the Post reports.

So why would Vick want to spend money on real estate now, when he's got mounting legal bills, banks coming after him to collect on loans, and an arbitrator ruling that he has to re-pay nearly $20 million in bonus money he's already received from the Falcons?

The answer could be that Vick is planning to file for bankruptcy. Florida's bankruptcy laws would make it easier for Vick to keep a home in Florida than it would be for him to keep a home in Georgia. As the Wall Street Journal has noted, "The state's lenient bankruptcy laws have long made the state a destination for debtors on the run." Vick may be the latest to take advantage of those lenient laws.

The Marcus Vick Experience Is a Short Ride

Here's what Marcus Vick told the Miami Herald two weeks ago:
"Cam Cameron is going to give me a fair shot. There's no doubt I can [be an NFL receiver]. I need to run better routes.''
Here's what Cam Cameron told New Mexico today: "Thanks, but no thanks." Vick and Manny Wright got their walking papers as the Cam Cameron Makeover continues.

Wright was best known as "the guy Nick Saban made cry at practice" and Vick was best known for being Ron Mexico's younger brother (among other things). Now, three days after taking one wide receiver in the draft, Vick is out of a job.

Given his quote above, the timing seems odd. Especially when you consider the depth chart, in addition to Ted Ginn, includes Marty Booker, Chris Chambers and Derek Hagan. I'm not saying Vick deserves to be ahead of any of these players, but every team needs a Nos. 4 and 5 option.

So, where does Vick end up? My guess is New England. The Pats are trying to corner the market on wide receivers, even the ones with some baggage.

Amid Questions, Dolphins Could Find Some Answers

Obviously, the Dolphins have some serious issues to address before the start of the season, but there could also be some pleasant surprises too. Among them: last year's seventh-round pick, defensive tackle Rodrique Wright, and undrafted free agent Marcus Vick.

In the days and weeks leading up to the 2006 draft, many people considered Wright a first-rounder but an undisclosed injury (torn rotator cuff) saw him tumble down teams' draft boards. After missing all of '06 rehabbing, Wright returned to practice this week and depending on his progress, could, at the very least, add depth along the d-line next season.

Vick, who had a rough transition from college to the pros thanks largely to some off-field issues, rebounded nicely once he signed a free-agent contract with the Dolphins. He graduated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster mid-season and now he's looking for more than just a spot on the team:
"Cam Cameron is going to give me a fair shot. There's no doubt I can [be an NFL receiver]. I need to run better routes.''
Given where Vick was 12 months ago, that's great news. And if he succeeds, all the better for the Dolphins.
