John Elway to Marry Former Raiderette

Denver Broncos legend John Elway will reportedly marry former Oakland Raider cheerleader Paige Green.
Denver media reported Friday that the two-time Super Bowl winner proposed to 41-year-old Paige Green during a trip to Italy last week.

Elway told the Rocky Mountain News he was "looking forward to a long life together" with Green.

A telephone message left by The Associated Press with Elway's secretary wasn't immediately returned.

Elway divorced his wife of 18 years, Janet, in 2003. They had four children together (all are now adults).

He met Paige Green at a celebrity golf tournament held by former Raider legend Marcus Allen back in 2005. Elway, 48, reportedly proposed to Green, 41, during a trip to Italy last week. No date has been set for the wedding.

Since Green's Raiderette days, she has made a career out of acting in movies you've never seen.

Barry's World: Bonds Toasting Vince Coleman

Barry's World is the FanHouse's look into the season that is Barry Bonds.

According to the description on YouTube, this is footage from former big leaguer Vince Coleman's wedding, which was apparently sometime last winter in Hawaii. Coleman must have taken for granted that none of this invited guests would turn out to be amateur paparazzi, but the guy with this camera spent a good four minutes filming Barry Bonds, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Marcus Allen sitting around a table and socializing with other guests. Riveting, I know.

Maybe it would have been entertaining had you been able to actually hear everyone, but I regret I'll never get those four minutes back. But then, as a reward for pleasuring my inner voyeur, after those four minutes of boredom Bonds actually got in front of a microphone and spent a few minutes giving a mildly amusing toast to the happy couple.

This isn't the side he chooses to show the media, but it's actually kind of cool to see him so relaxed and having a good time. Plus, he got a few big laughs out of the crowd, which was probably the last time he ever got such a welcoming reception on the road.

Marcus Allen Tops Top 10 Top-10 List

I just mentioned FOXSports.com recounting the top-10 running back draft busts, and now, ESPN.com lists the top-10 top 10 picks of all time. You know, because in the days leading up to the draft you can never have enough lists.

I always like reading these things and think of them more as entertainment than anything else. Plus, I'm always happy to see players from my favorite team earn a mention. And in this case, they've earned two: Rod Woodson ranked No. 2 and Jerome Bettis followed one spot behind (though the Bus was originally drafted by the L.A. Rams).

Woodson was an 11-time Pro Bowler, tallied 71 career interceptions (12 returned for touchdowns), was named Defensive Player of the Year in 1993 and won a Super Bowl in 2000. With the benefit of hindsight, it's hard to believe the Steelers thought he was washed up when they chose not to re-sign him after 10 seasons in Pittsburgh.

Anyway, the lists goes on, naming players who invariably helped their team -- guys like wide receivers Herman Moore and Al Toon, cornerback Chris McAlister, and even left tackle Willie Anderson. The authors anoint running back Marcus Allen top honors, and I can buy that, but then, at the bottom of the column, they add two honorable mentions: Terrell Suggs (2003) and Matt Leinart (2006).

Okay, Suggs I can see, but ... Leinart? Are they serious? The guy's been in the league for one season, he plays in Arizona, and to date, the highlight of his professional football career is being linked to Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Alyssa Milano (okay, mostly just Alyssa Milano). This just seems like a completely arbitrary, last minute addition, put there by SuperLeinartFan06 or something. If you can overlook this one glaring "what the...?" it's a pretty good read.

USC is Super Bowl U

And it's not even close.

Consider:

91 Trojans have played in Super Bowls (first overall in college football).

The USC coaching tree includes Joe Gibbs, who won several Super Bowls with the Redskins and Mike Holmgren, who won two one with the Green Bay Packers and nearly a third second last year with Seattle. Other notable former USC assistants include two former Super Bowl winning Cowboy assistants in Norv Turner and Dave Wannstedt.

Oh, there's this guy named Lynn Swann you may have heard of? USC guy and MVP of Super Bowl X. He was known to make a playoff catch or two.

The last non-suck Cincinnati teams were led by offensive tackle Anthony Munoz. Unfortunately for Munoz they also ran into the buzzsaw that was the 1980's San Francisco 49er squads.

The ferocious Ronnie Lott won several Super Bowls with San Francisco and later Tim McDonald won one himself. Both were incredible safeties at USC.

Marcus Allen was a Super Bowl MVP with the Raiders thanks to a memorable 75-yard touchdown run as part of a 191 yard day that at one point was a Super Bowl record. Rod Martin arguably should have been named MVP in 1981 for his three-interception effort against the Eagles.

Heisman Trophy winner Mike Garrett was a 1,000 yard back for one of the early Chiefs Super Bowl teams. Bart Starr got all the love but the game was different back then and the running back was pretty much everything to a successful offense.

More recently, Willie McGinnest set a playoff record for sacks and was the defensive heart and soul for several New England Patriot Super Bowl teams.

The San Diego Chargers would have never made the improbably run to the 1995 Super Bowl without the defensive efforts of Junior Seau. Yet again he fell victim to another San Francisco 49er buzzsaw, but that's how the game goes sometimes.

Mosi Tatupu was the fullback and special teams warrior for the 1985 New England Patriots. They, too, ran into a buzzsaw against perhaps the greatest Super Bowl team of all time, the 1985 Chicago Bears. That Bears squad had a young Jeff Fisher on its loaded defensive roster. Fisher was a quality safety at USC and a finer NFL head coach who would also make it to the Super Bowl with the Tennessee Titans.

This year is actually a quite rare event in that a Trojan isn't involved in either side. But, USC did have two of last year's Super Bowl stars with defenders Troy Polamalu and Lofa Tatupu.

The list goes on and on but you get the drift.
