No Charges to Be Filed Against Grizzlies' Marko Jaric

Just a few hours ago, Memphis guard Marko Jaric's name bubbled up as the rumored Grizzly under police investigation for allegations of sexual assault. NBC Philadelphia now reports that no charges will be filed in the case, citing a "lack prosecutorial merit" in the allegations.

That's a weird Friday for Memphis, for Jaric and to be honest, for the NBA media. NBC had the reported investigation before anyone and didn't jump on the SI.com report naming Jaric. (To my knowledge, NBC still has never mentioned Jaric in connection with this.) Frankly, we'd all be better off if Chris Mannix had not reported that the investigation was trained on Jaric, considering the conclusion.

Report: Marko Jaric Under Investigation For Alleged Sexual Assault

UPDATE: NBC Philadelphia reports that prosecutors have decided not to press charges against Marko Jaric.

On Thursday, NBC Philadelphia reported that a member of the Memphis Grizzlies was under investigation for an alleged sexual assault in Philadelphia. No names came out until a few moments ago, however. Chris Mannix of SI.com reports the Grizzly under investigation is ... Marko Jaric. (H/T: Skeets.)

Jaric married Victoria's Secret lingerie model Adriana Lima last month, on Valentine's Day. The only game the Grizzlies have played in Philadelphia this season was ... three days prior, on February 11. The team would have been in the city only on February 10, the Tuesday before Jaric eloped with Lima.

Has Karma Caught Up with Marko Jaric?

Adriana LimaHas Marko Jaric used up all his good luck? Two weeks ago he was the luckiest guy in the world, marrying Victoria's Secret supermodel Adriana Lima.

But ever since he seems a little, well, distracted on the court. As Ronald Tillery points out, Jaric hasn't made a single field goal since getting hitched, though he did finally get on the board in Saturday's game via the free-throw line. So what's the deal, did the basketball gods decide to even the score?

As one unnamed FanHouse colleague put it, "Nah. Tired legs."

Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric Elope

Adriana Lima and Marko JaricThe economy is crumbling, scandal has invaded every page of the sports section and technology is slowly turning our brains to mush, but don't despair!

If ever there was proof that the common(-looking) man can still prevail, it can be found in the unlikely marital bonds between NBA journeyman Marko Jaric and Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima, who secretly eloped two weekends ago.

Both Darko and Zach Expect to Be Traded

Darko MilicicIs this Zach Randolph for Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric deal going to happen, or is it bouncing around the echo chamber simply because there's nothing else to talk about during the dog days of the offseason? Donnie Walsh confirmed talks have taken place a couple of days ago but refused to say much beyond that. If the players are to believed, though, it's just a matter of time before this thing goes down.

According to the New York Post, "Darko Milicic was quoted in a Serbian newspaper as saying he believes it's '99 percent' sure he'll become a Knick by the end of the week." Randolph is convinced as well; Newsday says he's "been telling friends he expects to wind up in Memphis before training camp opens Sept. 30."

As for Jaric, well, he's actually been in New York all summer and has been working out with Nate Robinson and David Lee. That's probably a lucky coincidence more than anything else -- the reason he's in the Big Apple is to be with his fiancee, supermodel Adrian Lima -- but still, if Robinson and Lee like what they see, it's probably safe to assume they're sharing it with Walsh. This is hardly a done deal, but where there's smoke, there's fire.

Chris Kaman International Man of Mystery

Elie Seckbach, the Embedded NBA Correspondent, brings his exclusive video reporting to FanHouse. Check back regularly for more videos.

In this video we feature NBA big-man Chris Kaman, a professional athlete who has a one-of-a-kind personality. Despite his talent Kaman wasn't invited to the US Olympic team, so he decided to join the German national team with hopes of making it to the Olympics. This must-see video includes Kaman's skills with a bow and arrow, and around 2:40, a hilarious reaction from teammate Marko Jaric responding to a comment Shaquille O'Neal made about Kaman.

Hold the Mayo -- Kevin Love and OJ Are on the Move as Griz and TWolves Go Blockbuster

All the time we spent fretting over who the Timberwolves would take with the third overall pick (hey, you spend five hours live blogging the entire NBA draft and you're allowed to come up with headlines like that too, okay?) is all for naught because of a deal that broke shortly after the draft.

Minnesota and the Memphis Grizzlies have apparently made a monster swap -- a far bigger deal than that new Minny logo -- that revolves around their two first round picks. The Timberwolves will receive the draft rights of Kevin Love, Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins and Mike Miller. In exchange, the Grizz will receive O.J. Mayo, Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner.

Obviously, Mayo and Love are the two big components in this deal. Kevin McHale has made no secret of his Love-love leading up to the draft, but knew he had to take Mayo in the third slot, because of their draft position. However, the addition of Miller is pretty ridiculous, as is the dumping of Jaric's contract (although the loss of his ladyfriend Lima certainly hurts).

For the Grizzlies, they get Mayo, of course, and he could be a pretty nice shooting guard addition beside Mike Conley in the backcourt. The Grizzlies have also been trying to dump Cardinal's contract ever since they gave their last good tradable piece away moved Pau Gasol to the Lakers. Buckner, Collins and Walker are essentially throw-ins to make everything work.

Marko Jaric and Adriana Lima Are Engaged

Of all the strange and unexpected things to happen this season -- the Celtics jumping from the lottery to the Finals, Shaq landing with the Suns, Joakim Noah getting busted with pot (actually, nix that last one ...) -- the news that Marko Jaric and Victoria's Secret supermodel Adriana Lima were dating easily ranks near the top.

On Friday, we found out the duo are no longer dating ... they're engaged:
Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima received an engagement ring Thursday night – her birthday – from basketball star Marko Jaric, his rep tells PEOPLE.

"He asked and she said yes. They are both incredibly happy and couldn't be more in love," says publicist James Weir.
I can barely wrap my head around this. I'm starting to get the feeling that NBA players live a pretty nice life. I don't know, call it a hunch. (via BallHype)

The Timberwolves Own The Suns

Okay, that's probably a stretch. But it seems like recently, when the Suns come to Minnesota, they're in for the fight of their lives, regardless of how poorly the Timberwolves have played in the rest of their games. Last night, behind a career night of 32 and 20 from Al Jefferson, the T'Wolves took down the Suns to get just their third win in 18 tries this season.

The Suns came into Minnesota a year ago riding a 17-game winning streak, and then-Wolf KG dropped 44 to ensure that Steve Nash's daughters would spend the evening in tears. Last night's victory was even more unlikely though, considering that, despite the media attention to the contrary, the Wolves really are the worst team in the NBA. So I don't know what's going on here. Maybe the, um, "gentlemen's clubs" in Minnesota are just too amazing for the Suns to resist.

A more serious explanation for last night's loss (from the Suns' side) would be that they were likely just tired, being on the second night of a back-to-back and at the end of a five game road trip. Jefferson went nuts, the Suns were exhausted and looked past this game, and bingo: T'Wolves win.

Mako Jaric
, who's a pretty happy guy these days, had the line of the night describing Minnesota's victory:

"But definitely this season, it's the biggest of all three of our victories.''

Jaric let out a chuckle as he said that, and the locker room erupted with laughter for one of the few times in what has otherwise been a miserable season.
