Giants Training Camp Notebook: Plaxico Burress Returns; Kevin Boss Has Big Day

Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.

- Today's biggest story was the return of wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who had been out since August 2nd with a sprained ankle. Perhaps even more encouraging was his performance on the field. Plax caught a nice hook from Eli Manning in front of R.W. McQuarters, and later put a move on Corey Webster that nearly broke his ankles.

- Back-up tight end Kevin Boss also had a big day with quite a few spectacular grabs. His most impressive catch came on pass from quarterback Jared Lorenzen which sailed through the hands of wide receiver David Tyree.

- Coach Tom Coughlin, who has battled it out with Tiki Barber for about two years, seemed pleased with Eli's response to Barber's latest criticisms.

"I think he thought about what he was going to do and decided he'd say exactly what he felt. More power to him," Coughlin said.
You know deep down Coughlin was chanting "Eli! Eli! Eli!"

Giants Training Camp Notebook: Bad Day All Around; Various Roster Moves Made

Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.

- Tight end Darcy Johnson's season is over. Although original reports were quite positive, Johnson will require surgery on his right knee and will be promptly placed on injured reserve.

- The Giants made quite a few roster moves today, including the addition of defensive tackle Manuel Wright (Buffalo). They also signed offensive linemen Dan Parrish and Myniya Smith, while releasing defensive end Deke Bake, cornerback Travonti Johnson and offensive lineman Chris Patrick.

- Not practicing were Plaxico Burress, Corey Webster, Michael Stone, Gerris Wilkinson, Charrod Taylor, Craig Dahl and Gerrick McPhearson.

Giants Training Camp Notebook: Tuck Gets First Team Reps; Manning 'Very Sharp'

Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.

- After an impressive performance on Saturday against the Carolina Panthers, defensive end Justin Tuck found himself working with the first team today. Although Tom Coughlin didn't admit it, Tuck will probably be the "go to guy" should Michael Strahan choose to retire.

- Eli Manning looked quite promising in practice today; his passes were crisp and accurate. After struggling early in camp, Manning seems to have turned it around. And although the box score only showed a three for five in Saturday's preseason game, Eli also demonstrated a new found field awareness. Albeit slowly, Eli is starting to give Giants fans a reason to be hopeful.

- Cornerback Kevin Dockery and some defensive coaches got an ear full from Coach Coughlin this afternoon after Dockery put Jared Lorenzen on the ground. Lorenzen, who was wearing a red jersey, appeared to be injured on the play and eventually left practice. He was later seen with a wrapped knee.
