Filho-Yoon, Manhoef-Galesic Added to DREAM.12 Card

A pair of middleweight bouts have been added to the Oct. 25 DREAM.12 card in Osaka, Japan, the first DREAM event to utilize a cage. Former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho will take on Korean judoka Yoon Dong Sik, while K-1 knockout artist Melvin Manhoef will face off against Croatian striker Zelg Galesic.

Remy Bonjasky K-1 Video: I Don't Want to Get Knocked Out

Early on Friday I noted that Melvin Manhoef prides himself on being a brawler when he steps into the ring, rather than a cerebral fighter with a game plan. So that makes it especially interesting to note that Manhoef's opponent in Saturday's K-1 World Grand Prix in Seoul, Remy Bonjasky, prides himself on being a cerebral fighter who protects himself from knockouts -- and from the long-term brain damage that he fears suffering in the ring.

Melvin Manhoef: F**k the Game Plan

With four words in the above video, Melvin Manhoef explains why he's such a popular K-1 and MMA fighter -- and why he's also a fairly limited fighter who wins plenty of fights by exciting knockout but also loses plenty of fights to more tactical opponents.

Scott Coker Addresses Dream Alliance

Following the Strikeforce event on Saturday night, CEO Scott Coker invited DREAM event producer Keiichi Sasahara to discuss the new alliance between both organizations.

Coker talked about putting together match-ups like Robbie Lawler vs. Melvin Manhoef and Josh Thomson vs. Shinya Aoki in the near future. He also mentioned that Showtime could air a Strikeforce-DREAM event, as well. A video of Coker and
Sasahara addressing the media can be found below.

Sobral on Mousasi: When I Started Fighting, He Was Still on Mother's Lap

Since making his debut in 1997, Renato "Babalu" Sobral has seen more than a few hot prospects capture attention before fading away. His Aug. 1 Affliction: Trilogy opponent, Gegard Mousasi, is perhaps the latest in a long line of hyped young stars who has excited observers with his potential.

And while only time will tell if Mousasi meets the predictions that many are forecasting for him, Sobral can only concern himself with the present. And what he sees is a talented kid who is a bit short on experience.

"He's a Dream champion. He's not overrated; he's just one more guy," said Sobral, whose fight will air as one of the featured matches on the 9PM ET pay-per-view broadcast. "He's a young guy, upcoming. But when I started fighting for the first time, he was still on his mother's lap."

Dream 10: Paulo Filho Returns, Submits Melvin Manhoef

Paulo Filho is back, and Melvin Manhoef is still a one-dimensional kickboxer. That's what we learned when the two middleweights put together a very entertaining couple minutes of MMA at Dream 10.

Dream Videos Now on YouTube: Melvin Manhoef on MMA, K-1

Following in the footsteps of its kickboxing cousin K-1, the Japanese Dream MMA promotion has a new YouTube channel, launched just in time to promote Monday's Dream 10 event. Above, Melvin Manhoef talks in one of the new Dream videos about the unusual scheduling situation that has him getting ready to fight Paulo Filho on Monday and then return to the ring to fight Ramazan Ramazanov on August 11.

Video: Melvin Manhoef Wins, Stefan Leko Breaks Foot at It's Showtime

Melvin Manhoef didn't look all that impressive in fighting Stefan Leko Saturday at the It's Showtime kickboxing event in Amsterdam, but he won the fight by TKO when Leko broke his foot and couldn't continue.

Keijiro Maeda Beats Gokhan Saki, Wins K-1 Heavyweight Title

In a major upset, Japan's Keijiro Maeda won the K-1 heavyweight title tournament Saturday at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 in Yokohama, beating Gokhan Saki by decision in the final.

It was a huge win for Maeda and for the Japanese fans, who sounded more stunned than elated to see their countryman win the K-1 heavyweight championship belt. Maeda advanced to the final by winning a semifinal fight in which he barely broke a sweat, needing only a couple minutes to knock out the heavily favored Melvin Manhoef, a muscular Dutchman who has had success in both kickboxing and MMA. Manhoef showed off a glass chin against Maeda, who KTFO'd him with a straight punch that didn't look like it had much on it.
