Okay, It's Gotta Be a Rule: Wear a Giants Jersey, Go Down With Injury

The most frustrating part of being a Giants fan over the last three years has been the overwhelming amount of injuries. Not once in those three years have the Giants managed to play through a season without a significant injury. In fact, they'd consider it a good year if they only suffered a single significant injury.

Unfortunately, with a little over a week to go until the regular season begins, the Giants are once again facing those injury demons. It began early in the offseason when fullback Jim Finn was placed on injured reserve with a torn labrum and was promptly followed by cornerback Michael Stone going down with a hip injury.

Over the course of the next few weeks, the Giants lost tight end Darcy Johnson (knee), wide receiver Michael Jennings (Achilles), defensive tackle Marcus Bell (knee) and defensive end Dek Bake (back).

New York Giants @ Baltimore Ravens: Week Two Preseason Injury Report

Taking into account that it's the preseason, many of the players sitting on the sidelines tonight would normally be on the field if it was a meaningful game. With that said, I'm sure most fans would like to know who they should expect to see this evening. For that reason, I've done by best to create an accurate injury report -- official reports are not posted until week one of the regular season.

New York Giants:

Out: Wide receiver Plaxico Burress (ankle), linebacker Gerris Wilkinson (knee), center Todd Londot (ankle), long snapper Ryan Kuehl (calf) and safety Michael Stone (hip).

Questionable: Safety Craig Dahl (groin), wide receiver Marco Thomas (groin), Sinorice Moss (ankle) and Zak DeOssie (ankle).

Probable: Wide receiver Amani Toomer (knee), cornerback Gerrick McPhearson (groin), cornerback Corey Webster (hip), tight end Kevin Boss (shoulder) and defensive tackle Charrod Taylor (toe).

Giants Training Camp Notebook: Bad Day All Around; Various Roster Moves Made

Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.

- Tight end Darcy Johnson's season is over. Although original reports were quite positive, Johnson will require surgery on his right knee and will be promptly placed on injured reserve.

- The Giants made quite a few roster moves today, including the addition of defensive tackle Manuel Wright (Buffalo). They also signed offensive linemen Dan Parrish and Myniya Smith, while releasing defensive end Deke Bake, cornerback Travonti Johnson and offensive lineman Chris Patrick.

- Not practicing were Plaxico Burress, Corey Webster, Michael Stone, Gerris Wilkinson, Charrod Taylor, Craig Dahl and Gerrick McPhearson.

Carolina Panthers @ New York Giants: Week One Preseason Injury Report

Taking into account that it's the preseason, many of the players sitting on the sidelines tonight would normally be on the field if it was a meaningful game. With that said, I'm sure most fans would like to know who they should expect to see this evening. New York Giants:

Out: Wide receiver Amani Toomer (knee), wide receiver Plaxico Burress (ankle), linebacker Gerris Wilkinson (knee), center Todd Londot (ankle), long snapper Ryan Kuehl (calf), safety Michael Stone (hip), cornerback E.J. Underwood (hip), cornerback Aaron Ross (glute) and defensive tackle Fred Robbins (calf)

Probable: Tight end Jeremy Shockey (leg) and defensive end Osi Umenyiora (hip).

Playing: Lots of rookies and free agents. (Kidding, obviously. But seriously, can this team ever escape the injury bug?)

Giants Training Camp Notebook: Jared Lorenzen Long Snaps; Guy Whimper Starting?

Giants Training Camp Notebook is a cliff notes style post aimed at giving Giants fans up-to-date news about the most recent training camp practices.

- I am going to start off with the weird news of the day: Back-up quarterback Jared Lorenzen was practicing long snapping duties! No, I am not kidding. Although practice was officially over at the time, Lorenzen got down and began tossing them back -- and if I understand correctly, he did quite well.

- Only a day after General Manager Jerry Reese declared the battle for left tackle to be "over," it was announced that Guy Whimper will start with the first team on Saturday night. My only reaction? Great way to get Eli Manning killed.

- What is going on with Osi Umenyiora? This guy has been on fire and given no reason to doubt his earlier prediction that he'd be the NFL's premier defensive end.
