Magic, Howard Are Tough Enough

Every night there are some stupendous, silly, stupid, or downright outlandish individual lines from around the "lig." Doing Lines lets you know which one tops the list.

Amid a fantastic slate top to bottom, Boston at Orlando stood out as the must-watch. And the teams delivered: the Magic ended up with a rollicking two-point victory on the back of Dwight Howard's deft post play and some lovely outside shooting from everyone else. (Which is to say they won this game how they win every other game.)

Mike Taylor's Dunks Are Simply Unholy

The legend of Mike Taylor began with a casual little under the rim, windmill throwdown in the middle of a game the other night. The announcers, at the time, mentioned Taylor was unleashing dunks like that in warmups. They weren't kidding, either. Via Bethleham Shoals at The Sporting Blog comes this clip of Taylor during warmups. Shoals touches on Taylor emerging "organically" (I would point out that "virally" applies here as well) which is a pretty cool concept compared to "expectations" and what not. Consider me doing my part to help over-expose him.

Clippers Finally Have a Highlight Thanks to Mike Taylor

There hasn't been a whole lot to celebrate if you're a Clippers fan this season, unless you're into injuries, losing, and well, more losing. But rookie Mike Taylor gave the home town fans something to cheer about, by going baseline for this ridiculous windmill jam during L.A.'s game against the Grizzlies.

And yes, the Clippers dropped this one to Memphis by 23 points. Thanks for asking.

Report: Baron Davis Could Miss 4-6 Weeks

I say this with full sympathy and with no malice in my heart. Part of you knew it would have to be like this, Clippers fans.

The Boston Globe is reporting that star free-agent acquisition, NBA All-Star point guard Baron Davis, could miss four to six weeks with a sprained ring finger on his left hand. Davis has an evaluation meeting with doctors on Monday to determine the severity of the injury and whether surgery is necessary.

The injury would be devastating on so many levels for the Clippers that the sheer height of this catastrophy's oblique face could give you vertigo. Not only would it represent another in a long line of Clippers' injuries that ends up costing the team massive amounts of games, but it affirms all the worst fears a Clippers fan could have about Baron Davis. As my esteemed colleague Brett Edwards likes to point out, before last season, Davis had not played more than 82 games in a season since 2002.
