'King Mo' Addresses Critics, Talks Strikeforce Debut, Wrestling Promos

"King" Muhammed Lawal has never been known to bite his tongue, and when FanHouse caught up with the former All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State University last week in Chicago, he was his usual confident self.

Lawal talked about his Strikeforce debut on Dec. 19 in San Jose, Calif., the critics who say he is overhyped, and his love for a good, old fashioned pro wrestling promo. The video interview is below.

Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers Post-Fight Show With 'King' Muhammed Lawal

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- In the premiere edition of the FanHouse post-fight MMA show, we caught up with one of the newest members of the Strikeforce roster, "King" Muhammed Lawal, to break down all that transpired at the Sears Centre on Saturday night.

Lawal praised Brett Rogers for his efforts, looked forward to a fight between himself and Gegard Mousasi, and pointed out what Jason "Mayhem" Miller could have done better to secure the title victory. Check out the show below.

King Mo's Debut, Lindland vs. 'Jacare' Proposed for December Strikeforce Event

Muhammed LawalStrikeforce is gearing up for a busy November, but the organization already has plans in place for their year-end show as well. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said on this week's edition of The MMA Hour (which will be featured later this week on MMA FanHouse) that the organization's next big Showtime event will take place on Dec. 19 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Coker also mentioned that recent Strikeforce signee, "King" Muhammed Lawal, is scheduled to make his debut on the show, but no opponent has been signed just yet.

Muhammed Lawal Weighs Options Following Recent Mark Kerr Victory

Muhammed Lawal defeated Mark Kerr last Friday at M-1 Global: Breakthrough in just 22 seconds, and the free agent is already looking towards his next fight. "King Mo" told FanHouse on Thursday that he is weighing offers from several organizations. He said there is a chance he will compete again for Sengoku, but not on their upcoming Sept. 23 event because "it's a smaller show."

Lawal added that he hopes to return to action come October or November, and that he still expects to be fighting in either the UFC or Strikeforce by the end of 2009.

Daniel Cormier to Make MMA Debut at Upcoming Strikeforce Challengers

Daniel CormierDaniel Cormier, the two-time Olympic wrestler and six-time senior national champion freestyle wrestler, will make his mixed martial arts debut on the September 25 Strikeforce Challengers card at the SpiritBank Events Center in Bixby, Okla. Strikeforce officials would not confirm nor deny Cormier's involvement on the upcoming card.

As of Thursday, no opponent has been signed to face the MMA rookie.

'King Mo' Defeats Mark Kerr in 25 Seconds at M-1 Breakthrough

Officially, Muhammed Lawal made his North American MMA debut on Friday night, but after defeating Mark Kerr in just 25 seconds via ground and pound at M-1 Global: Breakthrough, it's safe to say that we don't know much more about his potential as a fighter.

Regardless, "King Mo" improved his professional record to 5-0 as quickly as most expected him to do so, and hardly broke a sweat along the way.

Dance or Wiggle? 'King Mo' Contemplates Friday Night's Ring Entrance

If you've been following Muhammed Lawal's MMA career since he made his pro debut one year ago, you won't be surprised to hear that his biggest concern heading into Friday's M-1 Global bout against Mark Kerr has nothing to do with Kerr's fighting skills, but what kind of dance he'll do on his way to the ring.

"King Mo," who's known as much for his elaborate ring entrances as he is for his undefeated 4-0 record, said on this week's edition of The MMA Hour that he's narrowed it down to two choices.

Lawal vs. Kerr, Fedor vs. Mousasi Set for M-1 Global 'Breakthrough'



Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal will face Mark Kerr and Fedor Emelianenko will spar with Gegard Mousasi at M-1 Global's "Breakthrough" event on Aug. 28 in Kansas City, the promotion announced Monday.

The venue has been changed from the Los Angeles Convention Center in Calif. to the Memorial Hall due to "a partner in Los Angeles that backed out of certain commitments," according to M-1 Global COO Joost Raimond. The Memorial Hall previously played host to an M-1 Challenge card in June.
