Rain, for the love of Pete, go away
- What happens when you invite 20-plus NASCAR drivers to compete in a charity race at a half-mile dirt oval? Well, they bring rain -- just as they have for three of the past four NASCAR event weekends.

SPEED's NASCAR Coverage Coming Soon

The offseason has moved along quicker than you thought, NASCAR fans.

Just a few weeks ago, NASCAR was celebrating Jimmie Johnson as the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Champion in New York City. On Jan. 7, the stars and cars of NASCAR's top series will roll onto Daytona International Speedway under the banner of the Sprint Cup Series.

Likewise, the series formerly known as the Busch Series -- the NASCAR Nationwide Series -- and the finale season of Craftsman as the title sponsor of the NASCAR Truck Series will follow suit in the weeks following.

And if you've got cable/satellite/whatever, SPEED Channel will have your fix with a neat addition for hardcore fans to the 2008 lineup.

For the first time, SPEED will dedicate three nights of coverage to the shop tours, press conferences, and various other announcements that make up the NASCAR Pre-Season Media Tour.

Will it be boring at times? Potentially. Will it be a brief respite from the monotonous winter lacking in engine noise? You bet.

The Sprint Cup Series will be on-track at Daytona from Jan. 7-10 and Jan. 14-17 with the Nationwide Series hitting the track Jan. 21-22 and the Craftsman Truck Series on Jan. 11.

Enjoy.
