The Broncos Losing Streak Is Over

So much for Keith Olbermann's prognostication skills. Hours after the NBC pundit shared his belief that the Steelers could run the table and finish 15-1, Jason Elam's 48-yard field goal made a fool of him. The Broncos kicker won a game on the final play for the third time this season and tonight's 31-28 win was the third of Denver's season. You can do the math there but Elam's a big reason why this Denver team is still able to think about the playoffs.

It looked like they weren't going to need his heroics for much of the evening's proceedings. Denver opened up a 21-7 halftime lead thanks to the generosity of Ben Roethlisberger. He was picked off twice and fumbled on a sack by Elvis Dumervil, one of two by the talented pass rusher, late in the second quarter. Tim Crowder scooped up the ball and scampered 50 yards to create the two touchdown margin as the teams returned to the locker rooms.

Playing without Champ Bailey, the Broncos had those three turnovers and sacked Roethlisberger four times overall. They also held Willie Parker to 93 yards, or about half as many as they'd given up on average in the first five games of the year. Dumervil and Jarvis Moss really looked good, using their speed to make things difficult for the larger Steeler lineman the whole first half and helping force Roethlisberger's mistakes.

Cardinals Missed Kicks Give Game Away To Redskins, 21-19

The Redskins beat scored more points than the Cardinals, 21-19, to give them a 4-2 record in a tough NFC East race. It really didn't feel too good, though. The prettiest thing about this game is pictured to the right.

Arizona gave this game away in every possible way. A Kurt Warner interception, plus a late hit gave the Redskins their first TD. A Kurt Warner interception was returned by London Fletcher for the Skins' 2nd TD. Penalties, a late fumble in the redzone, a blocked extra point and a dumb 2-point conversion call sealed it all for Arizona. Well, the missed field goal as time was expiring actually sealed it.

That's right. Despite how badly the Cardinals played, they were a foot from winning this game. Neil Rackers' foot missed a game winning FG by a foot to the left with :01 remaining.

The Redskins offense was, for the second straight game, horrible. Washington gained just 160 yards of offense [Arizona gained 364] and just 87 yards passing. Jason Campbell was accurate, completing 12 of 18 passes, but just 95 yards [and one of those was a 26 yarder to Antawn Randle El].

New England Pounds Miami, As Predicted, But Bringing Brady Back Was Classless

New England showed everyone why they are undefeated ... and Miami showed everyone why they are still looking for their first win. There's no reason to bother breaking this thing down. We all knew it going in ... and it did look like a Madden-style spanking. The Patriots had Tom Brady simply go off with 6 TD passes and a perfect QB rating. Randy Moss went up and took away two TD passes. The defense effectively shut Miami down. You know: that old chestnut.

Sure, history will see the 49-28 score and think that Miami put up some sort of fight ... but, not really. If not for the Pats giving mercy, this could have gotten worse* {check on that asterisk in a bit}.

Ya know how the weatherman shows us a warm and cold front heading for a collision? Same thing here. As great as New England is, they looked better because of Miami's struggles. Even when Miami made this a 14-7 game, they absurdly give up the ensuing kickoff return for a TD. Brady and the Pats rolled it on to a 42-7 halftime lead and then held on for the ride.
