Vitor Belfort: Nate Marquardt Deserves Middleweight Title Shot Before Me

It has been rumored for some time, that Vitor Belfort will challenge Anderson Silva for the middleweight title at UFC 108 on Jan. 2. And while Silva's recent elbow surgery might have put a wrench in those plans, UFC president Dana White told FanHouse last week that he hopes the title fight can still be put together.

Recently, middleweight contender Nate Marquardt told HDNet's Inside MMA that he didn't think Belfort deserved the shot so soon after returning to the UFC, and when FanHouse asked "The Phenom" about this, he surprisingly agreed. "I didn't look for the fight. Actually, I would like to have a couple more fights," he said. "I think [Marquardt] deserves it."

MMA Top 10 Middleweights: Chael Sonnen Rises, Yushin Okami Falls

Chael Sonnen, Yushin Okami

I've been banging the drum for a couple years saying the UFC needs to give Yushin Okami a shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva. You won't be hearing that from me anymore.

After Chael Sonnen thoroughly dominated Okami with a unanimous decision win on Saturday night at UFC 104, Okami took a tumble in my rankings of the top 10 middleweights in mixed martial arts. So how far did Okami fall, and what does the middleweight picture look like now? My rankings are below.

With Couture-Vera on at UFC 105, Henderson-Marquardt Now Off

The UFC has decided to book Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera as the main event for UFC 105, and FanHouse has learned that one of the organization's original choices for that spot -- Dan Henderson vs. Nate Marquardt -- won't be taking place at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England, after all.

Late last week, Henderson, a free agent, told FanHouse that he was hoping to get a raise before agreeing to fight Marquardt or anyone else.

Dan Henderson: 'Holding Firm,' but Confident UFC Deal Can Get Done

CHICAGO -- Dan Henderson has leverage, and he intends to use it.

Henderson, the 39-year-old mixed martial arts star who spent most of his career fighting in Japan, has never been more marketable in the United States than he is right now. Early this year he established himself with the casual fans who never saw him fight in Pride by coaching on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter, and in July he delivered the single biggest highlight at the UFC's most successful pay-per-view show ever when he knocked out Michael Bisping.

Nate Marquardt vs. Dan Henderson Targeted for UFC 105 Main Event

UFC 105 may have found its main event.

FanHouse has learned that the UFC is looking to book a middleweight bout between Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson for the Nov. 14 show at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. As of Thursday afternoon, though, official bout agreements had yet to be finalized.

UFC Twitter Mailbag: Randy Couture, Thiago Silva, Nate Marquardt, More

UFC Twitter universe had plenty to say about UFC 102, with thoughts on upcoming fights for Randy Couture and Thiago Silva (could both of them be future opponents for Lyoto Machida?) as well as praise for Nate Marquardt.

Your questions and comments, and my responses, for our UFC Twitter mailbag are below.

Five Things We Learned From UFC 102

Todd DuffeeExperts who study boring things that aim to depress us say you can't learn anything watching TV. I say "bollocks" (which is a word I learned watching the BBC). Watching UFC 102 with a finely attuned eye, there was much to be learned.

Here's my list of five things I surmised from Saturday night's fights.
