UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman are expected to meet in the Octagon at UFC 109 in February, in a battle of legends of the sport who will be a combined 91 years of age.

Loretta Hunt of Sherdog.com reports that Couture and Coleman have both verbally agreed to the bout, which will take place on February 6 as part of the UFC's annual Super Bowl weekend show. It will be the first time two UFC Hall of Famers have ever fought each other, and it will be a fight with two opponents who have major name recognition among MMA fans, even if they're no longer among the sport's elite fighters.

Couture and Coleman have never fought in MMA, but they did wrestle each other once in 1989, with Coleman winning.

Randy Couture left the octagon on Saturday night a winner.

It should be cause for celebration. It should be yet another transcendent chapter in an epic tale.

It is not. Instead, it is another in the long, recent line of controversies.

In a surprising unanimous decision, three judges in Manchester, England gave Randy Couture a UFC 105 victory over Brandon Vera after a fight in which Vera did most of the effective stand-up striking.

Vera was shocked after the decision was announced.

"I thought I won," Vera said. "I left it all out there. I gave it to Randy as best as I could. ... I still don't know -- what the hell? -- thanks, judges."

The UFC 105 main event will be a light heavyweight matchup, meaning both Randy Couture and Brandon Vera will need to make the light heavyweight limit of 205 pounds, with a one-pound buffer allowed.

In the final press conference before Saturday's UFC 105 event in Manchester, England, Brandon Vera delivered an earnest show of respect towards his opponent and mentor Randy Couture.

"Come fight night, you're going to see potentially the best Brandon Vera that you have seen so far and I won't be hesitating at all, I promise," Vera said. "And that's for me and for Randy, so he knows that I'm coming along in this sport and that I've set goals and I'm moving forward for those goals. So he'll understand that I'm not playing around anymore. But all the respect in the world has to go to him.

"He's an ambassador for the sport. He's done his thing. He's five-time world champion, that motivates me more to be him, to beat that man."
