RCA Dome Implosion: In Which the History of the Indianapolis Colts Goes 'Boom'

The RCA Dome was home of the Indianapolis Colts for 24 years. They won a Super Bowl, they ushered in the Peyton Manning era and they even built a snazzy Ring of Honor. Ohh. Ahh. And then today, it went a dynamite-like "BOOM" as the city of Indianapolis imploded it. Awesome video below.

This is the point in time in which it stinks that Manning became a non-choker because otherwise, I'd have a free "Collapsing faster than Peyton" joke. Oh well. RIP RCA.

Own Your Very Own RCA Dome Urinal

Ever wanted to own stadium seats from an actual stadium, or a chunk of end zone turf on which your favorite player scored a touchdown? If you're a Colts fan, I've got just the deal for you.

Indianapolis is putting the wrecking ball to the RCA Dome this spring, but not before they let the Colts auction off all the goodies inside of it. Fans who want to take home a piece of Indianapolis sports history can bid on everything at BuyTheDome.com -- and when I say everything, I mean everything. The Colts are selling off stadium seats, turnstiles, turf dirt, and yes, even the locker room urinals.

Are there really Colts fans out there who want to brag about owning something that once collected Peyton Manning's pee? I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the non-profit Indiana Sports Corporation and various other Colts charities. You can think about the good you've done for them every time you have to drain the lizard.

Colts: Lucas Oil Stadium Update

As some of you may or may not know, the Colts are building a new stadium, finally. The new stadium will be called Lucas Oil Stadium and it will be replacing the RCA Dome. Anyways, I figured I'd give out some links to information about the new stadium that I have run across.

First off, there is a PDF online which has a very detailed sketch of the new Lucas Oil Stadium. Some key features to point out from this would include: the retractable roof, the warehouse style design (seems to fit nicely with the Pacers' Conseco Fieldhouse), the retractable front window, among many other things. Check it out, it's a great site.

Next, we have the live webcam. What new stadium is complete without a live webcam? Here is the latest picture. You can easily tell the progress of the construction from that picture. It seems as if the lower level of concrete is nearly all laid. Still far from completion however.

For more details on the new stadium visit this site and scroll down until you see the Lucas Oil Stadium section. The stadium is set to open for the beginning of the 2008 season.
