Only Thing Better Than Ric Flair Lotto Tix? Voicemail to Gamecock's AD

Ric Flair is one of those celebrities who won't go away. I'm cool with that -- I enjoy his presence at Panthers games on the Jumbotron and I freaking LOVE his lottery tickets (when you purchase one, the little register screen says, "WOOOOOO!" which is just beyond awesome). Know what I love more than that though? The voicemail he left on the South Carolina athletic director's answering machine before the Ole Miss game last Thursday.

It's basically the most awesome thing of all time. (Hear it after the jump.)

Ric Flair Is Honored With His Own Commemorative Lottery Tickets (WOO!)

Ric Flair is an icon among wrestling fans, not only worldwide but in North Carolina as well. He's always appearing on the Carolina Panthers jumbotron, screaming something or another about not drinking and driving (WOO!) and he's been known to show up at college football games and tailgates across the state.

And now he's been honored with his own commemorative scratch-off lottery tickets, designed specifically to help the children of North Carolina become more smarter. Or something.

Flair's Son Arrested for Heroin Possession

The 21-year-old son of professional wrestling legend Ric Flair was arrested and charged with heroin possession on Sunday in Charlotte. Richard Reid Fliehr, known to wrestling fans simply as "Reid Flair," was booked after police say they found heroin in his car. He was also charged with driving while impaired, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license.

Lamar Odom's Childhood Heroes: Magic Johnson and Ric Flair

Everyone knows that Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom grew up idolizing Magic Johnson. Although he hasn't had the same success as Magic, it's obvious that Odom patterned a lot of his game after him. Like Magic, Odom is a point guard in a power forward's body who is at his best when he is aggressively pushing the ball on a fast break.

Playing with Kobe Bryant has forced Odom to become more of a traditional power forward, but luckily, Odom had another childhood hero to help him prepare for the physicality of the power forward position. Here's Jannis Carr of the O.C. Register with the scoop:
Odom said his favorite [wrestler] is "Ric Flair," a retired professional wrestler known for his platinum blonde locks, in-ring antics and use of the catchphrase, "Woooooo!" Odom said he cried as a boy when he discovered the action wasn't real.

One of his most cherished birthday gifts was one of Flair's trademark full-length robes, replete with rhinestones, sequins and colorful feathers along the neckline.
The Lakers should spice things up a bit and let Odom rock that robe for his warm up outfit before games. Or maybe they can let him cut a promo like this.

As well, now that I know Ric Flair was one of Odom's childhood heroes, I understand this random act of violence on Ray Allen last season. Allen is just lucky Odom didn't put the figure four leg lock on him and make him tap out.

If Joakim Noah Puts Aaron Afflalo in the Figure Four, You'll Know Why

Winning back-to-back national championships is hard. Winning the championship once, and then rallying to put everything back in place to do it again ... it can be tricky. So when the Florida Gators are looking for advice on how to do just that, who better to talk to them than a man who's won sixteen world championships?

I know of only one man with such a resume ... "The Nature Boy," Ric Flair. Flair, with his gritty determination, the strength and skill of a warrior, the figure-four leg lock, the chops to the chest, and the intricately-sequined robes, has won the world championship sixteen times. You don't accomplish something like that without learning something about a burning competitive desire.

So when Billy Donovan was looking for someone to motivate the Gators before their battle against Butler, Flair was the only choice.
The Gators coach asked former wrestling star Ric Flair to speak to the Gators. Flair, who once appeared at Florida's Midnight Madness, strutted through the locker room and did his well-known "Whoooo!"

"We were up, we were energized," Florida forward Corey Brewer said.

"I remember when we kids," Florida guard Lee Humphrey said. "Some of my buddies had those dolls and we used to beat up on the dolls - Macho Man ( Randy Savage) and Lex Luger and Ric Flair."
It's your move, UCLA. I suggest the Reverend Slick.
