The Nationals Love Themselves Some Reality Television

The Washington Nationals are all about the reality television genre. Robert Fick and Dmitri Young, for example, are big fans of American Idol. And they're none too pleased with Wednesday night's results. Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post's DC Sports Bog got Fick's take on Idol vote, and on the current season in general:
"I just think it's the way she looks," he said of Melinda and her untimely exit. "Melinda was 29. I don't know. Melinda's the best singer, she is. But the way she looks, she doesn't look like the American Idol." Point being, he loves Idol. Been watching for years. I asked for his favorite contestant this season. "I liked Gina Glocksen the best," he said. "I thought she was good, and I thought she got screwed."
From the information I've obtained (which is my way of saying that I'll never admit that I watch even a little American Idol when in "reality", I'll watch a few songs between innings), half the finalists got screwed via "Sanjaya-mania", which basically means that not only did Gina get screwed, but the show has officially jumped the shark. Dmitri Young weighs in after the jump:

Dodgers Fans Booed Sanjaya

I'll confess, I don't watch American Idol. But, I'm familiar with this Sanjaya character, namely because I own a television and a laptop -- the dude's face is inescapable lately.

Well, he was in the stands at a recent Dodgers-Padres game and let's just say he got served by the home crowd.

From the Times of India:
"He was just sitting there having a good time with his friends, just like a regular person. And when the Dodger camera noticed him, the cameraperson ran over and taped him."

"Sanjaya's face pops up on the big screen right away. At first he smiled, he seemed to like the attention. But then the entire crowd at the stadium started to boo and it was loud! His smile faded a bit and his eyes looked sad," said an eyewitness who was at the Dodger stadium to watch the game.

"It's like he was trying to keep a fake smile on, but you could tell he was crestfallen. He just kept waving and smiling for a few seconds more then his image went off the screen," added the eyewitness.
The booing was probably a bit unwarranted here. I don't remember him striking out to end the inning or anything. But, I mean, the guy has to deal with Simon Cowell all the time. What a big meanie that guy is! So, you know, I'm sure everything worked out OK for all parties involved.

Rock on, Los Angeles.
