
It's unfair and kind of reckless for me to try and speculate what it was that kept Scott Spezio on the restricted list for the past month. The Cardinals acknowledged it was some kind of substance abuse and that's all we really need to know. But his personal problems did have more of an effect than just keeping him out of the lineup, it also took away the goofiest piece of facial hair in Major League Baseball, his red soul patch. Still, that's probably not the aspect of the story we should be focusing on. From

I was happy to see him back in the lineup for the Cards' last night, even if his comeback is probably a bit too late to help the Cards get into the playoffs and it's taking place without my favorite personal accent in the entire NL Central to make fun of.
