Two weeks ago, Jeff Monson and Roy Nelson were fighting each other in Florida at the March Badness show. This weekend in Japan, Monson was fighting again -- and he had Nelson in his corner.

Could we see an MMA heavyweight tournament this year featuring names like Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic, Alistair Overeem, Sergei Kharitonov and Semmy Schilt? Probably not, but we can dream, can't we?

Our friends at Free Fight Videos have a couple posts up, based on reports from Sportal.hr, that suggest that Cro Cop has re-upped with Dream, and that Dream's relationship with Fedor, Overeem, Kharitonov, Schilt, Gilbert Yvel and a few other big guys could make for an amazing heavyweight tournament.

It now appears that the Alistair Overeem vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic rematch that we've been talking about forever will not be part of the Dynamite New Year's Eve show in Japan.

Instead, Overeem is likely to take on Sergei Kharitonov. That's an intriguing fight; Overeem and Kharitonov have already fought twice, with Overeem winning by first-round TKO in 2006 and Kharitonov winning by first-round TKO in 2007. I'll enjoy the rubber match.

But it's disappointing that Cro Cop won't be fighting Overeem. Might he fight the Korean giant Hong Man Choi, who fought Fedor Emelianenko at last year's New Year's Eve show?
