Former U.S. Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy continued his impressive professional MMA career with one of his biggest wins yet on Friday night, beating the previously undefeated Zak Cummings by second-round submission in the main event of the Strikeforce Challengers card in Oklahoma.

FanHouse has live Strikeforce results for the main card of Friday's Strikeforce Challengers at the SpiritBank Event Center in Bixby, Okla.

Featured on the card are Tim Kennedy vs. Zak Cummings, two-time US Olympian Daniel Cormier, The Ultimate Fighter 7 assistant coach Zach Light and K-1 veteran Ray Sefo.

On this week's edition of The MMA Hour, we were first joined by two-time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier, who is making his MMA debut against Gary Frazier on Friday's Strikeforce Challengers card. Cormier talked about making the transition to MMA and training with the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif.

Later in the show, we spoke to Tim Kennedy about his Challengers bout against Zak Cummings and his time in the Army. Kennedy had some interesting comments regarding his future in the sport and why so few athletes serve in the Army these days. With a little over three weeks until the next Strikeforce Challengers event, promoters have announced the complete lineup for the Sept. 25 card in Tulsa, Okla.

In the main event, Tim Kennedy (11-2) takes on undefeated Zak Cummings (10-0) in a middleweight bout. Kennedy is coming off a convincing win over Nick "The Goat" Thompson at the last Strikeforce Challengers event in June, and his only loss in the last eight years was a decision against Jason "Mayhem" Miller in 2007. Cummings is an up-and-comer who drew a little attention in February when he won a split decision over UFC veteran Terry Martin.

A day after news broke that Evangelista Santos was forced to pull out of his main event bout against Tim Kennedy on the upcoming Strikeforce Challengers card, FanHouse has learned that newcomer Zak Cummings has agreed to face Kennedy on short notice.

Cummings (10-0) will be making his Strikeforce debut on the card. Kennedy (10-2) made his organization debut in June, defeating Nick Thompson via submission. The fight will be contested at 185 pounds.

The Strikeforce injury bug continues to wreak havoc.

Almost a month before the organization's next Challengers event, Evangelista Santos (11-6-1) has been forced to pull out of his main event bout against Tim Kennedy (9-1) due to a knee injury sustained during training, according to The Fight Network, who cited a source close to Showtime.

Tim Kennedy will return to action against Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos on September 25 at the SpiritBank Event Center in Tulsa, OK. The middleweight fight will headline the next Strikeforce: Challengers card on Showtime. Strikeforce director of communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed the news with FanHouse on Friday.

Nick Thompson has the 50th professional mixed martial arts fight of his career on Friday night when he takes on Tim Kennedy at the Strikeforce Challengers Series event, but even after years of fighting all over the world, Thompson doesn't view MMA as his life's work.

As a special forces soldier in the U.S. Army, Staff Sgt. Tim Kennedy has survived IED blasts, 30-hour gunfights and missions behind enemy lines so classified that he'll never be able to discuss them. He also survived time away from his wife, two daughters and his professional sports aspirations.

And like every good soldier, Kennedy did it without hesitation.

"It's surreal to be with those guys the first time out," he said of his time spent with elite combat squads. "Gunfire goes off, and everyone runs towards it. I guess that's a character trait that sounds flawed, but it's reassuring to find there are others like you."
