Reed Doughty Makes Thousands of Dollars Working From Home

Redskins safety Reed Doughty might be on injured reserve, but rehabbing a bad back hasn't affected his keen business sense. Or maybe he's just extremely lucky (other than not being able to play because he's hurt, obviously). Whatever, he's been a beneficiary of the club recently signing Shaun Alexander and DeAngelo Hall.

Alexander wore No. 37 in Seattle before his inglorious departure, and that just happened to be Doughty's number in Washington. One financial transaction later and Alexander had 37 and Doughty had moved on to 23. Fast-forward a few weeks, the Redskins sign Hall to a one-year deal, and he wanted to keep the number that brought him such good karma in Oakland.

Yep, that would be No. 23. Doughty dutifully obliged because, as he told the Sports Bog's Dan Steinberg, "I want to have my number, I like 23 ... But at the same time, we're building a house. I'd rather have furniture than a number." Fair point.

Meanwhile, Doughty's teammates' reaction ranged from incredulous to, well, just incredulous:

NFL Fines LaMarr Woodley for Sacking Jason Campbell in 'Intimidating Manner'

It looks like Gretz is going to have plenty of material to work with for his end-of-season "Worst NFL Fines" post. In addition to Giants defensive end Justin Tuck having his wages garnish-ied for tackling Cowboys quarterback Brooks Bollinger -- and that's all he did, tackle him -- PFT reports that Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley will be out $10,000 for sacking Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell "in an intimidating manner."

Um, what? Intimidating? Does that mean James Harrison should be fined for every play he's on the field, because I'm pretty sure he intimidates a lot of people.

Whatever, here's the video of Woodley's intimidation tactics (sack No. 5, at the 1:15 mark):

Here's a thought: instead of fining Woodley for doing his job, how about the league sanction tight end Todd Yoder for the worst attempt at a block in the history of tackle football. Way to take a dive and get your quarterback maimed, Todd.

On the upside: pansy-ification of the NFL is nearly complete!

Retreat, Refocus, Rearm: Redskins Will Return to Form

Warrick Holdman

Now that the glass half full looks more like it's half empty, let's take a more realistic snapshot of what the Redskins are working with. It's easy to let the 0-2 record get us down, but last year's team, which was less talented (on paper at least) was 5-6 before making a run for the playoffs.

So what's going on this year? Are we really that bad? Is there any hope left for a run for the Lombardi Trophy?
