UFC 97: Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua Vows He'll Be in Shape vs. Chuck Liddell

The last time we saw Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, he dominated Mark Coleman in the early going of their fight at UFC 93, only to run out of gas and struggle mightily to put Coleman away. That left a lot of viewers thinking Rua wasn't in good enough shape, and on a call Tuesday to promote his UFC 97 fight with Chuck Liddell, Rua confessed that he wasn't.

Rich Franklin Mending After UFC 93 Loss

In the main event at UFC 93, Rich Franklin suffered a couple of ugly-looking injuries because of unintentional fouls from Dan Henderson: in the first round he got a gash on his forehead when he and Henderson butted heads, and in the third Henderson accidentally poked him in the eye.

But while Franklin is obviously going to need some time to recover, a message posted on his personal web site says he's going to be OK.

UFC 93 Video Blog: Fight Day

The final installment of UFC President Dana White's UFC 93 video blog starts with White and Michael Bisping playing the new UFC video game:

White also appears with Alistair Overeem and says he will try to sign him to the UFC. And with that, UFC 93 is a wrap, and all of White's focus will now turn to UFC 94. A couple of UFC 94 videos are below.

UFC 93 Morning After: Let's Hear It for Dan Henderson

After the 1996 Olympics, Dan Henderson was a world-class athlete looking for a way to make a living. He had just competed in Greco-Roman wrestling in Atlanta, and he knew he wasn't ready to retire as an athlete at age 26, but he also knew there was no professional Greco-Roman wrestling circuit.

So he decided to take a shot at mixed martial arts, a sport so obscure that when he told people he was doing it, most didn't know what it was. Even those who had heard of it were only vaguely aware of what it was; some people called it Ultimate Fighting, some called it vale tudo, some called it no holds barred, and some called it savagery unfit for an Olympian.

But Henderson entered the Brazil Open in 1997, and that began an MMA career that has seen him fight professionally on four continents, and an MMA career that continued on Saturday with his victory over Rich Franklin in the main event at UFC 93.

UFC 93: Dan Henderson Beats Rich Franklin by Split Decision

Dan Henderson
defeated Rich Franklin today in a hard-fought split decision to win the main event at UFC 93 in Dublin.

Henderson will now be one of the coaches on Season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter, and will fight the other coach, Michael Bisping, this summer.

UFC 93: Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua TKOs Mark Coleman

The long-awaited rematch between Mark Coleman and Shogun Rua ended with Rua winning a strange, slow-paced third-round TKO today at UFC 93 in Dublin.

Coverage at UFC.com: Watch Post-Fight Interviews and More

Coleman had previously handed Rua his only loss in 13 Pride fights, beating him by TKO in 2006 when Rua suffered a nasty dislocation of his elbow and couldn't continue.

This time, Rua got a measure of revenge, but he didn't look particularly impressive in the process. He dominated the fight, but it looked more like Coleman was old and slow than like Rua was whipping a good opponent. At the end of the first round, Coleman looked like he was ripe for being finished, but it took Rua until the last minute of the third round before he finally ended it.
