Mike Brown: Hard to Scout Jose Aldo When He's Winning in 8 Seconds

After beating Urijah Faber at WEC 41 on Sunday, World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight champion Mike Brown is expected to defend his title against Jose Aldo some time in the fall. But considering that it only took Aldo eight seconds to beat Cub Swanson, Brown didn't gain much insight from the fight.

WEC 41 Morning After: Mike Brown vs. Jose Aldo Would Be Great

Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown, the main event at WEC 41 Sunday night, was one of those MMA fights that gets hyped for months, and then exceeds expectations. And yet as I think about WEC 41 on Monday morning, I'm already looking past Brown's unanimous decision victory, and ahead to the upcoming Mike Brown vs. Jose Aldo featherweight title fight.

WEC 41: Faber vs. Brown 2 Winner May Face Jose Aldo Next

Jose Aldo lands a kneeThe WEC 41 main event of Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown is just moments away, but we may already know who the winner of that fight will take on next: Jose Aldo, who used a flying knee to earn a stunning TKO victory just eight seconds into his fight with Cub Swanson.

After touching gloves with Swanson, Aldo backed up and then charged forward, landing his knee squarely on Swanson's forehead. Swanson fell to the ground with a gash over his eye, and after Aldo landed a couple more punches, the referee brought the fight to an end.

WEC 41: Donald Cerrone Beats James Krause on Faber vs. Brown 2 Undercard

Donald Cerrone showed once again that he's a complete, well-rounded fighter and one of the top two lightweights in World Extreme Cagefighting Sunday night, beating James Krause at WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber 2 in Sacramento.

Krause, making his WEC debut, attempted to be aggressive and push the pace against Cerrone, but he simply wasn't ready for a fighter of Cerrone's caliber. Cerrone beat Krause both on the ground and on the feet, ultimately using his striking game to knock Krause down and then submit him with a rear-naked choke late in the first round.

WEC 41: Jens Pulver Loses, MMA Career Likely Over

Jens Pulver, the former UFC lightweight champion and longtime fan favorite, likely fought for the last time Sunday night at WEC 41 when he lasted less than a minute before being submitted by Josh Grispi.

Pulver, a featherweight who is one of the best small fighters in the history of the sport, has now lost six of his last seven fights -- and none of the losses was particularly close. At age 34, he simply doesn't have the same power and explosiveness that he had in his prime.
