Stream Team: One Last Push

Looking to cycle spot-starters each day? Check out the Stream Team, where we tab pitchers that are likely to help you in your quest for fantasy gold.

This will be the last Stream Team column of the season, so I'll give you two days' worth of streamers as you try and close out your championship. I'd call our first season of streaming a success, and I'll be back with the final numbers for you on Monday. Until then, let's keep our eyes on the prize and figure out who we want in our rotation on the most critical days of the season.

Stream Team: Pick Up the Padre

The Team is rocking as we close out the season, with 14 wins, a 3.16 ERA, and a 1.23 WHIP over the course of September. We've basically taken Joel Pineiro's surprisingly-great 2009, condensed it down to a 24-day span, and handed it to you streamers. It goes without saying that my suggestions won't be available in every league, but the ownership percentages of the pitchers I select show them as being available in at least six out of every ten leagues, and usually more.

Stream Team: Zito the Pick Again

On Saturday we received a wonderful spot start from Jon Garland (hat tip to commenter andtinez), who pitched eight innings without allowing an earned run or a walk, striking out three and picking up a win. Paul Maholm pitched for us today, and those he allowed too many baserunners (nine hits and three walks in six innings), he only allowed two earned runs and in the process gave us our 14th quality start in our last 15 spot starts.

Better Know a Prospect: Padres

Wondering which young players could have an impact in the majors this year? Let MLB FanHouse guide the way in Better Know a Prospect. In this edition we look at three players from the San Diego Padres' minor league system.

Wade LeBlanc, SP: The 24-year-old made four starts last year in the majors, and the results weren't pretty. In fact, he also put together a terrible 5.32 ERA in Triple-A. The saving grace was that the Pacific Coast League is notorious for being offense-happy, and he still managed to strike out more than one batter per inning. In the lower levels of the minors, LeBlanc had solid success. Throwing lefty in spacious Petco Park never hurt anyone, and the Padres desperately need rotation help. For better or worse, you're going to be seeing LeBlanc this season in San Diego.
