Director Bobby Razak Sheds Light on Struggle to Legalize MMA

As one of the early documentarians of MMA, filmmaker Bobby Razak is used to providing an inside look at the lives of fighters and personalities in the sport. But for his latest project, he's reaching out to individuals outside of MMA. Specifically, lawmakers in New York and Toronto.

"It's really to bring light to what is going on," Razak told FanHouse. "To show certain people in the hierarchy – the New York state commissions, the Toronto commissions – to show what our sport is about, how impressive it is, what good it does to the economy, what good it does to troubled youth. This is a great sport. These are great people and let's let them do what they want to do."

Cain Velasquez Ready for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Shane Carwin

Cain Velasquez was supposed to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 108, but "Big Nog" recently had to pull out due to a severe staph infection. And with Brock Lesnar's recent health troubles keeping the heavyweight champion on the sidelines for an indefinite period of time, Velasquez told FanHouse that he doesn't know if his next opponent will be Nogueira or Shane Carwin and whether an interim title will be on the line.

The undefeated heavyweight contender also talked about his recent victory over Ben Rothwell, dealing with the media and his dream of fighting in Mexico. Check out the video interview below.

Myriad of Behind-The-Scenes Issues Muddle UFC Heavyweight Title Picture

With heavyweight kingpin Brock Lesnar on the shelf for the forseeable future, the UFC is likely moving towards an interim heavyweight title future, but who exactly that future involves is anyone's guess.

FanHouse spoke to several sources in the last 48 hours, and it seems that the organization is no closer to having any type of clarity in the title picture as they continue to deal with illnesses, injuries and other issues that have suddenly crept into scheduling.

According to two sources close to the situation, the UFC's preference is an interim title bout between Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez to be held at UFC 110 on Feb. 21 in Sydney, Australia. But the UFC will have to wade through several difficulties in putting together such a matchup, which seems increasingly less likely to happen.

The January 2 UFC 108 show has lost its main event, as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has had to pull out of his fight with Cain Velasquez because of a staph infection, the latest in a series of blows to the promotion.

Nogueira vs. Velasquez, Evans vs. Silva Official for UFC 108

The UFC announced Tuesday Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez and Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva as the two co-headlining bouts for UFC 108 on Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The winner of the heavyweight main event will determine the title challenger next in line once Brock Lesnar recovers from his sickness and puts his belt up against Shane Carwin.

The Evans-Silva matchup pits the former 205-pound champ looking to avenge his training partner Keith Jardine's knockout loss at UFC 102.

UFC 104 Fighter Salaries: Lyoto Machida Earns $200,000

UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida walked away with $200,000 and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua with $155,000 for main eventing this past Saturday's UFC 104, according to salaries disclosed to FanHouse Tuesday by the California athletic commission.

Machida won a unanimous decision over Rua to retain his belt, but even if he had lost the controversial five-round showdown, he would have still earned the same amount as there was no win bonus attached to his bout agreement.
