2007 NASCAR Season: My Top 35 Memories

The 2007 NASCAR seasons is in the book and oh ... the memories and monotony. I will remember it most as the year Dale Earnhardt Jr. left the company his father started, Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus dominated and the season droned on in the car of tomorrow.

Here are the Top 35 things I will remember most about the 2007 NASCAR Season, in (mostly) chronological order:

1. AOL Sports welcomed NASCAR into the Fanhouse

2. Mark Martin didn't win the Daytona 500

3. Michael Waltrip Racing's Intake Gate

4. Washington State dissed NASCAR fans

5. Juan Pablo Montoya won in Mexico

6. Car of Tomorrow debuted at Bristol

7. Team Red Bull mechanic Jimmy Sprinkle murdered

8. The Virginia Tech Tragedy

9. Kevin James' Engine Command

Fanhouse Power Rankings: Dodge Dealers 400

80561. Leave Jeff Gordon alone. He's the daddy of a precious little girl now. It's time for the gay rumors to cease. The flaming torch has officially been passed to Dale Earnhardt Jr.
8074 2. Leave Jimmie Johnson alone. He just lost his pants.

3. Leave Mark Martin alone. He does not deserve beer cans thrown at him when he steps behind the wheel of the #8 car, especially if it's in Budweiser paint before the end of the year.
80564. Leave Martin Truex Jr. alone. He's concentrating on sweeping.

Ella: The Girl Who Domesticated Jeff Gordon

Not long after Jeff Gordon and his hot mama of a wife, Ingrid, welcomed Ella Sophia into the world, they made a major lifestyle change and gave up their hired help to raise this little beauty themselves.

Gone are the personal assistants ... gone is the newborn nanny ... gone is the cook ... gone is the maid.
"People think I'm lying when I say that we're up changing diapers and feeding the baby," Gordon says. "Anyone who doesn't believe me can stop by at 3 a.m. and see for themselves."
Bravo to them for attempting to create as normal a family life as possible for the little one. But c'mon ... bring back the maid. There's no need to get carried away.

By the way, when he said anyone who doesn't believe him could stop by at 3AM, he didn't mean you. Don't get any crazy ideas.

White Men Can't Dance and Other Half Truths

Monday on Live with Regis and Kelly and Jeff Gordon, Gordon reminded us all that white men still can't dance. Exception required, of course, for Wade Robson, but trust me when I tell you, Gordon didn't learn his pelvic moves from WaJeRo ... or Elvis.

"Oversteer" is an understatement. If you find the "Whine Up" performance as painful as I do, you'll want to let the video load first (or at least turn the volume down) and let 'er rip at about 3:12 to go and wait for the hilarity that is Jeff Gordon's runaway pelvis.

Think an "I'm sorry, honey" for trying to giddy up and grind on Kat DeLuna and embarrassing himself on national television is gonna cut it? I hope he came home with more than an apology for Ingrid. Ella, too. Seriously, one day her friends are going to give her so much sh*t about this video.

Meet Ella Sofia Gordon

Jeff Gordon and wife Ingrid Vandebosch revealed the first pictures of daughter Ella Sophia today on www.jeffgordon.com.

Gorgeous!

So, what does Gordon think of fatherhood a daddy so far? It's "amazing."

"I'm getting less sleep, that's for sure. It's not so bad, it's been good. Ingrid's been fantastic. I don't know how she does it because she's got to be up every three hours, but the baby's sleeping good, feeding good, so that's helping both of us.

It makes leaving home more difficult, but won't interfere with his focus on racing:
"It's harder to leave but once we get here, your mind is so focused on driving the car, being competitive, that it doesn't enter into your mind a whole lot. When I'm in the car [it's the] same way, I'm focused on that. Anytime I have to go do an appearance or leave to come to the race, it's much tougher, but it's also a lot more exciting to go home when I do."

Gordon A Father, Will Race in Sonoma

Earlier today, Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosch welcomed a new daughter into the world. Ella Sofia Gordon was born at 9:09 a.m., weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.

"It's been an absolutely incredible experience," Gordon said. "Ingrid came through amazingly and we're both really happy and overjoyed. We can't wait to get home and start our lives together as a family."

The four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will travel to Northern California later this week and is scheduled to participate in all on-track activities at Infineon Raceway, site of this weekend's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.
