Matt Forte Thrives in Receiving Game

Matt ForteI hate being wrong, but it's bound to happen in this line of work. No one is ever going to be right on 100 percent of their fantasy football proclamations. When it does happen, though, it's nice to be wrong about a player on your favorite team losing much of his fantasy football value. I had completely written off Matt Forte because of the Bears' inability to effectively run the football. The trend continued Thursday night, as Forte gathered just 41 rushing yards on 20 carries.

He did manage to salvage a very solid fantasy stat line, however, due to the Bears' effectiveness in using him on screen passes. He caught eight passes for 120 yards. After watching the game and seeing how he arrived at this total, I'm ready to spin a complete 180 and say he's definitely worth an RB2 slot moving forward. He still has "it," the Bears just need to get him into space so he can do his thing. They have found a way to do so, which is a good sign for Forte's fantasy owners.

Bears-49ers: A Fantasy Football Preview

With the beginning of the NFL Network's glorious Thursday night football beginning this week, fantasy football FanHouse is bringing you a preview for each and every Thursday night game from here on out. You've already seen the rankings, but things can change before Sunday. One thing that can't change? Your lineup choices for the guys playing Thursday evening. That's why we're here.

The Bears enter the game having lost three of their last four (the one win was at home over the hapless Browns). Their defense has plummeted from a respectable unit to one pretty easily shredded, whether via ground or air. The Niners come in having lost four straight and five of their last six. They are ranked fourth in the NFL in run defense and 24th against the pass.

Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Tiff Between Johnson and Stafford Overblown

Calvin JohnsonCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact.

That last thing that anyone wants in Detroit, or in the fantasy football world if you own either of these players, is for Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson to have problems getting along. Unfortunately, cameras caught the two young stars in heated debate on the sideline on Sunday as the Lions were losing to Seattle. At least, one side of the argument was heated, Tom Kowalski of Michigan Live says that Johnson was flat-out ignoring what Stafford had to say.

Michael Crabtree to Begin NFL Career With Starting Role

Michael CrabtreeIt no longer matters that Michael Crabtree skipped training camp after being selected tenth in the 2009 draft, feeling he deserved the pay scale of a much higher selection. It also no longer matters that Crabtree missed San Francisco's first five games, watching from home as the 49ers compiled a 3-2 record without him. What's important now is that Crabtree finally signed his rookie contract, has worked hard over the last two weeks, and will see his first NFL action this Sunday in Houston.

It's likely he'll even be in the starting lineup instead of current No. 2 wideout Josh Morgan.

"I'm helping him learn my position and take my position," Morgan told reporters in the locker room Monday, as he said that coaches informed him Crabtree and Isaac Bruce would start on Sunday.

Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Is LaDainian Tomlinson Still the Goal Line Back?

LaDainian TomlinsonCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact.

When the San Diego Chargers have the ball in the red zone with plans to run the ball, everyone on the planet knows that LaDainian Tomlinson gets the football. Especially, say Chris Jenkins and Kevin Gemmell of the San Diego Union-Tribune, when Tomlinson is playing like the Pro Bowl-caliber back we're so used to seeing. But, on Monday night, instead of calling Tomlinson's number, Darren Sproles got the carry.
The odd part about that was, this wasn't another one of those nights for Tomlinson, not one of those games where every one of his rushing attempts seemed so futile and fruitless and belied his long-held stature as one of the game's truly great backs.

So Long, Suckers: Depth Chart Shakeup

Fed up with one of your players? Eyeballing a player on the wire, but don't know who to drop? So Long, Suckers examines a few players widely-owned that probably shouldn't be.

Jim Zorn, facing a likely dismissal if his team dropped to 2-4, decided it was time for a change at QB, benching Jason Campbell in favor of Todd Collins. Well, the Redskins lost anyway, as your fantasy team likely did if you started Campbell as your QB1 (unless you were facing a Kerry Collins-led team, yeesh).

Luckily, you should have more options available to you than either Collins. Get rid of Campbell, owned in 58% of Fleaflicker leagues, as the Washington QB has likely flubbed his last chance to be an NFL starter.

'House Check: The Claim of the Week

Every Tuesday night, we'll give you an update on our FanHouse fantasy football league. Who hit on their sleepers? Who made the shrewd pickups? Who's practicing what they preach? In 'House Check, you'll find out.

Ryan Dembinsky made the absolute pickup of the year this week, claiming the 49ers defense off waivers in preparation for their Week 4 game against St. Louis. I was lucky enough to make the same add just minutes before game time in another of my leagues, and I can attest to the sheer dominance of the San Francisco D this week.

Sink or Swim: The Sleepers Are Still Sleeping, Somebody Hit Snooze

Josh MorganIt's another session of "Sink or Swim" Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekly look at the underachievers still lurking on many fantasy rosters. You've got the tough choices to make and we help you decide which direction to take. Do you cut the bait or give 'em one more chance to swim?

We all had our favorite sleepers heading into the season. Happens every single year and you're doing something wrong if you don't take a flier on a sleeper or have your eyes locked in on a few. However, the hard part always comes a few weeks into the season when roster space starts evaporating due to the waiver-wire wonders. When is it time to give up already and admit you were wrong on your so-called sleeper?

I wish it was an easy answer, but unfortunately it's not. And so today, we ponder the fates of Josh Morgan, James Davis and Chris Henry. All of whom caught our eye as potential sleepers that have yet to pay off.

Passed Out at Your Desk: Coffee Break

Glen CoffeeEveryone loves fantasy football sleepers, but they change depending on league size and availability. We're here each and every week to give you a look at good plays for all types of leagues.

Last week's column might have been a mixed bag, but when we hit, we did really well. Tashard Choice looks like he's capable of being a feature back in this league, LeSean McCoy did a great job as your flex in Week 3, and the Denver defense was dominant once again. Ricky Williams received only eight carries, but turned them into 55 yards and a TD. Can we find you some more sleepers for your fantasy football team this week? Of course!

The Pulse of the Fantasy Stock Market

Ray RiceThe landscape of fantasy football changes on a whim. One thing always leads to another -- an injury here, a news report there, and the next thing you know everyone is scrambling to get up to speed. That's why the trick is to stay one step ahead of the curve. Much like actual stocks, the values of individual players waver on a daily basis.

As we prepare to close out those last few drafts left or attempt to gauge where our team stands, it's important to track our assets. Or should I say get a better feel for where their value stands in the current market. Here's a quick look through eyes, ears, experiences and observations at some early risers, guys on the decline and others who have just held steady. This is your quick-hitter post-draft edition, so pay close attention.
