No Fraud: Rodriguez Finally a Champ

Alex RodriguezNEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez grabbed the World Series trophy and wouldn't let go.

After the New York Yankees regained the title for the first time in nine years, after the podium presentation before a delirious crowd of 50,315 christened the new ballpark with a title in its first year, A-Rod was the one to carry the trophy back to the clubhouse. He raised it high, showing it off to the fans, a triumph for the team and for himself.

"Look, a lot of people ran the other way. My teammates and coaches and organization stood right next to me. And now we stand together as world champs," he said a few minutes later in the clubhouse, under a shower of Moet & Chandon and Armand de Brignac. "It's been a special year. I know it started rocky for us."

MLB Power Rankings: Week 14

MLB Power Rankings: Where MLB FanHouse's editors, writers and bloggers team up to break down the who's who and the what's what in the baseball world.

Well, I'll tell you one thing: baseball ain't boring, folks. At least if you're in the middle class anyway; the upper crust is (somewhat) starting to establish itself across MLB's ranks and the bottom portion of the league is certainly holding steady. But in the middle, well, goodness. We have a lot of would-be title contenders. How's your semi-crappy team faring in the all-important MLB FanHouse Power Rankings this week? Find out after the jump.

A-Rod in Spotlight, Back to Old Ways

Alex RodriguezIn a kinder, gentler world, one without cell phone cameras and the insatiable desire to know everything about everyone, here's what would be relevant: Alex Rodriguez is in a brutal slump, the Yankees are in a bit of trouble and most of the pertinent details can be found in the latest box scores.

In a Jon and Kate world, here's the, ahem, rest of the story: Behind closed doors, Yankee executives argue about and stress over what they call "the A-Rod situation." They wonder if his awkward flails with the bat, his slowly swiveling hips, are merely expected by-products of the surgery he underwent during the spring, or a harbinger of much worse? They wonder how he can be caught shamelessly canoodling with actress Kate Hudson at nightclubs in the wee morning hours, while his employers who pay him $30 million a year decide he needs days off, to rest his weary body.

It's always something with A-Rod.

A-Rod's Celebrity Tour Continues With Kate Hudson

It's been a pretty horrible year for Alex Rodriguez, but after seeing the way he's handled himself in light of the steroid scandal and reading Selena Roberts' book, I kind of get the impression that he couldn't care less. According to Roberts in her book, Rodriguez is more focused these days on being a celebrity than a baseball player, and a lot of his actions back this up. There was that whole leaving his wife for Madonna thing, for example.

There was also a part of the book that talked about the first time A-Rod met Kate Hudson at the re-opening of the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami last November. Roberts said that Hudson flirted with A-Rod pretty constantly and that he seemed to like it, and now apparently the two of them are spending their time making out with each other in New York restaurants.

Monday Pin Placement: Zach Johnson Enjoyed Hawaii

Every Monday during the PGA TOUR season, Monday's Pin Placement will run as a wrap-up of the weekend action, with a little commentary mixed in. We will focus on anything you may have missed while you were grinding on the putting green.

Zach Johnson Gets Lei'd -- So much is said about the young golfers these days. We talk about Anthony Kim, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore and just about anyone else that is under 30 and has a little game. What is hard for most to realize (because Tiger didn't do it) is most professional golfers don't hit their talent strides until they get to 30.

Could Alex Rodriguez and Adam Scott Be Dueling for Kate Hudson's Affections?

Shane Bacon, who makes TMZ look like the Superficial (no offense, SF), recently reported that golf's young, total hotty Adam Scott was an item with Kate Hudson.

On the surface, it seems like a pretty cute little relationship. Until you hear that Alex Rodriguez might be dating her.
Kate Hudson was seen on a three-hour date with Alex Rodriguez in New York City this past week. We had reported late last year Kate and A-Rod flirting in Miami. Now that things have cooled between A-Rod and his "spiritual Kaballah" buddy Madonna, he can now finally date his way through all the blondes in Hollywood.
O.M.G. indeed. Look, the last thing to ever be remotely surprising is a gossip mag tying Alex Rodriguez to an attractive starlet. But it does seem odd that he's being linked to Hudson so quickly after Scott was "dating" her. Of course, this can only really mean one thing: a duel to the death.

Glove, slap. Baby, glove slap ...

Monday's Pin Placement: Geoff Ogilvy Must Get Motivated by FanHouse

Every Monday during the PGA TOUR season, Monday's Pin Placement will run as a wrap-up of the weekend action, with a little commentary from the weekend that was. We will focus on any news stories, including something you may have missed while you were grinding on the putting green.

Geoff Ogilvy Takes Domination To A Different Level -- Back in October, after the Ryder Cup had finished and the FedEx Cup concluded, I wrote up a little "Winners and Losers for 2008." In the losers bracket were the Australians, mainly because Geoff Ogilvy was the only golfer to do anything, and that was way back in March of last year. I'm not sure how much I can motivate golfers (if at all), but his performance at the Mercedes Championship was absolutely dominant.

Is PGA Star Adam Scott Dating Kate Hudson?

You knew it was inevitable. Adam Scott, the 28-year-old PGA Tour star that makes all the girlies go "heyyyyyyyyyy," has led a pretty sheltered life on tour. His previous girlfriend was an architecture student. He makes millions and might have the best sponsors (Burberry, Titleist, Rolex, Gulfstream) of anyone on tour.

With the talent and good looks and fame, he had to get hooked up with a notable girl soon, right? Look no further ladies and gents, because Mr. Scott is in Hawaii with none other than Kate Hudson.

Did Kate Hudson Trade In Lance Armstrong for Eric Lindros?

Even though ex-New York Rangers star Eric Lindros has been retired from the NHL for some time, that doesn't mean the boy don't got some game left in his brittle bones!

According to sports gossip site "Sports By Brooks", Hollywood cutie Kate Hudson has recently been seen with The "Big E", not too long after she dumped cyclist Lance Armstrong and his stupid bracelet by the side of the road.
"Kate and Eric have been holed up at her parent's house (in) Muskoka, Canada. She went there immediately after she and Lance ended things. Eric's been a great support for her."

It would seem natural for Hudson to gravitate towards a hockey player, given how her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, are known as big fans of the sport.

Still, I don't see how this could be considered "trading up", as the gossip site states. Is a retired has-been hockey player really that much better than a flaky actor (Owen Wilson) or Sheryl Crow's well-travelled rubbish (Armstrong)? Couldn't Hudson have found love with a current player on the LA Kings?

Another gossip site, Bitten and Bound, has a quote from one of Eric's friends who tries to poo-poo the love story, claiming that the Lindros clan and Hudson/Russell clan have been friends for 15-20 years. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Lindros really did score one last big goal.
