Here's
a look at the injury report for this week's Bills-Steelers game.
BUFFALO BILLS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS - Bills: OUT: DE Ryan Denney (foot), LB Keith Ellison (ankle), TE Kevin Everett (neck), S Ko Simpson (ankle), CB Jason Webster (forearm), LB Coy Wire (knee). QUESTIONABLE: WR Josh Reed (thigh).
Steelers: OUT: LB Marquis Cooper (hamstring)
The Bills are clearly much more banged up than the Steelers. Ko Simpson, Keith Ellison and Jason Webster are all starters, and in Ellison's case, his backup Coy Wire is also injured, even if he isn't listed on the injury report. John DiGiorgio is expected to replace Ellison/Wire. Jim Leonhard will replace Simpson at safety while Ashton Youbounty will step in at cornerback.
This is the first start for the trio. But that's not the only bad news for the Bills. Losing defensive end Ryan Denney will affect the Bills' ability to keep starting defensive ends Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schoebel fresh. And with the Steelers desire to use lots of three and four wide-receiver sets, the Bills will have to count on backup cornerbacks Kiwaukee Thomas and Jabari Greer to step up and fill larger roles. Both have some experience, so the Bills aren't in a hopeless situation, but another injury or two would be crippling.
On the other side of the ball, Everett's main focus now is to try to walk again, but he will also be missed in the Bills passing game. Lynch and Reed should both play.
For the Steelers Cooper would likely be inactive if he was healthy, so his injury is no big deal while Townsend is expected to play.
