Sahel Kazemi-Steve McNair Case Not How Police Described It

We may never know exactly what happened the day former NFL quarterback Steve McNair and his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, died. But it's clear from a new report by Armen Keteyian of CBS News that things didn't transpire exactly the way the police claimed.

CBS Report: Police Account of Steve McNair Death Doesn't Add Up

Steve McNairThe law enforcement investigation of the deaths of Steve McNair and his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, concluded that Kazemi shot and killed McNair before committing suicide. But a new investigation from CBS News raises serious questions about whether the police properly investigated the incident, and whether they may have reached the wrong conclusion.

On Monday's Early Show, correspondent Armen Keteyian reported that his own three-month investigation (video after the jump) found errors made by the police, including a major one about when Kazemi supposedly bought the murder weapon. Police claimed that they had pinpointed the time when Kazemi bought the murder weapon as during a two-hour period when she was absent from work. But Keteyian reported that the police were wrong about the date on which Kazemi was gone from work for two hours, and that there are major questions about whether she purchased the gun at all.

Steve McNair's Suicide Prevention Public Service Announcement Released

Steve McNairNASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Shortly before former NFL quarterback Steve McNair's mistress killed him and then herself, he recorded a public service announcement that urges young people thinking about suicide to call a hotline and "live to see better days."

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities shelved the announcement after McNair's July 4 death, and it never aired. The state released three versions of it to The Associated Press this week in response to a public records request.

Skeletons Depicting Steve McNair, Sahel Kazemi Pulled After Uproar

steve mcnair skeletonNothing says Halloween like the fake skeleton of an NFL quarterback murdered by his mistress. At least that was the initial opinion of King's Island Amusement Park -- because, as part of their Halloween Haunt show, a skeleton depicting Steve McNair wearing a No. 9 jersey and holding a Titans helmet with the top blown off was on display, an apparent reference to the two bullet wounds McNair suffered on the night he died. As if that weren't enough, a skeleton depiction of Sahel Kazemi, McNair's 20-year old mistress who Nashville police have said murdered the football star in the early morning hours of July 4, 2009, lies across the McNair skeleton's lap, wearing a piece of slinky red lingerie.

Videos of the display emerged courtesy of a sneak peak given to WLWT in Cincinnati and immediately drew intense scrutiny.

Felon Arrested for Selling Gun to Kazemi

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal agents have arrested a convicted murderer for allegedly providing the gun later used to kill ex-NFL quarterback Steve McNair.

Adrian J. Gilliam Jr. was arrested by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Dazzled by Fame and Money, Women Face Harsh Realities

At some point, both women must have figured happiness was tangled up in the bling, the fame and the muscles. When Sahel Kazemi looked at Steve McNair, she probably saw kindness and generosity, toughness and security. Were those the same qualities Amanda Rodrigues detected in Arturo Gatti?

The fine print in the lives of McNair and Gatti are eerily similar: McNair, an All-Pro quarterback, overcame injuries to his calf and ankle to earn NFL co-MVP honors in 2003, retired in 2007, was murdered at the age of 36. Gatti, a champion boxer, fought nearly one-handed for several rounds yet still won an epic match in 2003, retired in 2007, was murdered at the age of 37.

Steve McNair Allegedly Had 6-Year Affair With Exotic Dancer

Steve McNairIn the wake of Steve McNair's murder at the hands of mistress Sahel Kazemi, it seems there's an unending path of negativity following the former NFL MVP. The latest? The New York Daily News is reporting, via an anonymous source, that McNair carried on a six-year affair with an exotic dancer in Minneapolis, Minn.

According to the source, whom the News referred to as a "former business manager (of the strip club in question)," McNair was a "frequent visitor to the club and had an intimate and extramarital relationship" with said dancer. According to this person, the woman knew McNair was married with children, but still didn't care.

Coaches, Teammates Remember McNair

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Steve McNair's family, friends, former teammates and coaches gathered Thursday night along with thousands of fans to remember the slain ex-NFL quarterback's accomplishments on and off the field.

Ravens receiver Derrick Mason, who played with McNair in both Tennessee and Baltimore, called the loss heartbreaking.

"I still remember that smile of his," Mason said before heading into Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was to speak at the memorial service. "That'll never grow old."

Fans lined up starting Thursday morning to view McNair's closed silvery-gray casket at a funeral home and later outside the church. A helicopter provided live TV footage as McNair's body was moved by hearse, and three of four local TV stations showed the memorial service live.
