Denny's Free Grand Slam: Super Bowl Ad Positions Them for Hunger Swarm

If you've got a craving for a Denny's Grand Slam, your stomach is about to strike gold. In what may have been the most effective commercial of the 2009 Super Bowl, Denny's had a short and sweet spot that included mobsters having pancakes. While one of the mobsters is trying to speak, a waitress keeps interrupting him with more whipped cream on his Mr. Breakfast. At the end of the ad? Surprise! Free Grand Slams on Tuesday!

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Makes Impact With Super Bowl Commercial

In my opinion, car commercials tend to be the most boring of the bunch during the Super Bowl. But the Hyundai Genesis Coupe spot brought some real edge to the 2009 ad lineup.

According to TrendHunter Magazine, that was pro driver Rhys Millen drifting around the track in the 306-horsepower car, while Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins blasted on the radio.

Super Bowl Commercials: CareerBuilder Scores Big

I don't want to say that if you show a koala bear getting punched in the face over and over again that you'll make me laugh ... but if you show a koala bear getting punched in the face over and over again you'll make me laugh. Add in a very bizarre montage of things that remind me of my own day job, and you have what CareerBuilder.com put together, and what I think was the top Super Bowl XLIII commercial.

Super Bowl Commercials: Doritos' Crystal Ball Will Get You Fired

Doritos has had a couple good ads today.

The first was a "Magic Eight Ball" styled piece that resulted in an employee, after the Web site blackout ad, chucking a crystal ball at his boss. Hilarity ensues, naturally.

Super Bowl Commercials: Movie Trailers Aplenty, Including Year One

There have been a surprisingly large number of movie commercials thus far in the Super Bowl -- my theory is that movie studios have more money than anyone else and can actually afford the insanely high prices. Either way, I've been skeptical of Jack Black lately (I was very "meh" on Tropic Thunder) but Year One looks pretty funny at first glance. Fat, bearded guys playing the role of a neanderthal FTW.

Super Bowl Commercials: Do Not Question Bud Light

The first Super Bowl commercial of 2009 was darn funny. It was a semi-spin-off of the old Office Depot/FedEx ads that attempted to slice office budgets.

One young entrepreneurial young man attempted to claim that slicing Bud Light from the office meetings would result in more money. Whoops.

PETA Super Bowl Ad Too Racy for NBC

PETA is known for flirting with the proverbial line, and their recent Super Bowl ad, featuring women undressing while playing sensually with vegetables, does much of the same. Which might explain why it has been banned by NBC for depicting "a level of sexuality that exceeds our standards." High probability of being NSFW here, folks; it's pretty racy.
