The Terrell Owens release late on Wednesday night caught the sports world by a surprising storm. But as Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News pointed out following the release, perhaps it wasn't as surprising as we thought. After all, Jerry Jones, Cowboys owner, told Steve Dennis of Channel 11 in Dallas recently: "Can there be enough balls to go around here? I think that's very, very important here. And we want Roy Williams to have a lot of balls." Watch around 2:15 in the video below.

Terrell Owens' future has been a source of much contentious discussion in Dallas for some time, and now, suddenly, he has been released by the Cowboys, according to Michael Smith of ESPN, as reported on SportsCenter.

Owens, of course, for all his talents, is one of the most controversial wide receivers in NFL history, and just as was the case with San Francisco and Philadelphia, the man known as T.O. will leave Dallas under a cloud of heavy scrutiny.
