Owen Daniels Reportedly Out for Season With Right Knee Injury

Owen Daniels, the starting tight end for Houston, left the Texans' game early in the first quarter with a sprained right knee. The Texans managed to win (mostly due to Ryan Moats' beast of a game) but it appears as if the win will be pretty bittersweet, as it's being reported that Daniels is out for the season.

Adam Schefter innocuously (read: no link) dropped the news on Twitter, and the Houston Chronicle has -- kind of -- confirmed it, stating that Daniels will have an MRI on Monday but is "most likely" done for the season.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Rankings: TE

Every week in this space we've been bragging about the abundance of depth at the tight end position. Well, thanks to the bye weeks the pickings have gotten just a little slimmer. Or maybe, it's just that some of the hot starts have cooled off a little. Anyhow, prepare to yawn as it's another week and yet again Dallas Clark clutches onto the top spot. Until we see proof otherwise, that's that.

Tony Gonzalez returns from the bye week, but faces a tough defense in San Francisco. Surely, the 49ers will be amped to stop the run which may lead to Gonzo slipping in a nice game. John Carlson returns to the upper echelon this week and should be primed to get back into good graces against a soft Jaguars defense at home. If Jason Witten can't somehow exploit the Chiefs' horrid defense, then you may want to press the panic button. And as for the rest of the ranks, follow along...

Fantasy Football Week 4 Rankings: TEs

Jason WittenWe've been down this road before. We get it -- Dallas Clark is distancing himself as the clear-cut top tight end option in fantasy football. So, don't expect us to bump him from his lofty perch just yet. Really the only other tight end keeping the pace might be Brent Celek, but he's on a bye this week.

Well, insert Jason Witten to finally break out in a big way against the Broncos this weekend. We saw that the Cowboys were comfortable playing it safe on MNF with a lot of Tony Romo dump-offs to Witten. That was good enough for Witten to rope in nine passes. Of course, he didn't find the end zone, but that's coming on Sunday. Welcome back to the elite, Mr. Witten.

As for the rest of the ranks...

1. Dallas Clark, IND vs SEA
2. Jason Witten, DAL @ DEN
3. Chris Cooley, WAS vs TB
4. Jeremy Shockey, NO vs NYJ
5. Greg Olsen, CHI vs DET

Injuries to Watch: Week 4

Chad PenningtonWhether it's torn, sprained, broken or just needs to be taped, Injuries to Watch will keep you up to date on injuries around the NFL and how they'll affect your fantasy football team.

Quarterback

Chad Pennington, Dolphins - Pennington is done for the season. If he's still on your fantasy roster, well, then you're not paying attention.

Marc Bulger, Rams - Bulger did not practice on Thursday. In fact, he hasn't thrown a pass all week. He's likely not going to play on Sunday.

Jason Campbell, Redskins - Campbell said on Thursday that his ankle was still sore but he would play on Sunday.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Rankings: TEs

If you're still having trouble finding a decent tight end option at this point, you're doing something wrong. The tight end position has been consistently deep and productive over the first two weeks of the season. The Big Four is becoming more like the Big Dozen -- well, maybe.

There's simply no shying away from what Dallas Clark did on Monday night. He is essentially a No. 2 wide receiver for this Colts offense with Anthony Gonzalez down and out. However, you already knew that, right? And so, we must stick to our guns for yet another week with Mr. Clark leading the tight end rankings.

Fantasy Football Week 2 Rankings: TEs

It's been said in his space on numerous occasions that the tight end position holds plenty of depth this season. The argument was to not panic if you missed out on any of the big names during the draft, because you'd find an equally serviceable option in the end. And if anything Week 1 simply enhanced the notion, with at least 11 of the top 20 projected tight ends going over 60 yards and 11 total TDs mixed in. That's pretty solid if you ask me.

And so, this week we're gonna take the leap for Todd Heap. He was mentioned last week by R.J White as a sleeper for Week 1. Well, nobody should be sleeping this time, as he gets to face the Chargers who were simply awful against tight ends last season. And you may also recall that Zach Miller just throttled them on MNF. That said, Heap appears healthy and has a growing rapport with Joe Flacco. As for the rest of the rankings let's take a look.

1. Dallas Clark, IND at MIA
2. Tony Gonzalez, ATL vs. CAR
3. Chris Cooley, WAS vs. STL
4. John Carlson, SEA at SF
5. Jason Witten, DAL vs. NYG

Fantasy Football Sunday Wrap-Up: Cadillac an Escalade

Cadillac WilliamsSunday Evening Wrap checks out players who increased or decreased their value during the Sunday afternoon games.

We all know that every case is different, but value machine should generally be used by owners who enjoy making trades. If a player's stock is high, you shouldn't be trading for him. If a guy's stock is low, you should either trade for him or hold on to him. Obviously, every situation is unique, and that's why we'll discuss each guy.

Biggest : Cadillac Williams. Didn't you hear? He's back ... and apparently better than ever. Caddy's knees have gone through hell and high water, and Sunday he showed the same burst we saw at Auburn. The Cowboys run defense isn't bad, but Williams sliced through it for 97 yards and a score on just 13 carries. Expect another good game next week when the Bucs face the Bills.

Passed Out at Your Desk: The Week 1 Wake-Up Call

Everyone loves fantasy football sleepers, but they change depending on league size and availability. We're here each and every week to give you a look at good plays for all types of leagues.

Super Bowl 43. Free agency. The combine. The NFL Draft. Training camps. Preseason. More preseason. Another preseason game or two. Your draft(s). And finally, Week 1 is here!

It might seem a little silly to be talking about sleepers already, but good fantasy footballers know that a win in September counts the same as a win in November. So if the third WR you drafted has a tough matchup, why not cut the last player on your bench (a second TE, your eighth RB) for a one-week starter with a great matchup?

Baltimore Ravens 2009 Season Preview: What's Here Is What Matters

Joe FlaccoTraining camps have wrapped up, the NFL season is right around the corner, and it's still hot as sin outside. But instead of cooling you off with a warm island song, FanHouse break out ye old heat check for our 2009 NFL Season Previews. " We'll rate each club in 5 categories on a scale of 1 to 10, high score wins.

Up and down, up and down, up and down. In 2004, the Ravens went 9-7, then followed up with a 6-10 mark in 2005. Then in 2006, a 13-3 record, trailed by a 5-11 finish in 2007. So last year's 11-5 effort could be concerning, if you believe in trends. On the other hand, it could just be the start of something special -- if Baltimore can just get over the hurdle presented by the defending AFC North and Super Bowl champion Steelers.

Fantasy Cut-N-Go: Matt Cassel Injury Hurts Draft Position

Matt CasselCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's daily gathering of links from around the web, covering the goings-on in NFL Training Camp which have an impact on fantasy value.

The Kansas City Chiefs got really bad news on Sunday after quarterback Matt Cassel went down Saturday night with an injury.

It appears, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, that Cassel could miss the season opener as he'll be out two to four weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his knee. The injury isn't expected to require surgery but will force Tyler Thigpen into action.
