Usain Bolt Adopts a Cheetah

Usain Bolt Adopts CheetahUsain Bolt is, without question, the fastest man in the world. He owns the record for the 150-meter dash, the 100-meter (where his record is a ridiculous sub-10 seconds), the 200-meter, and, as MDS mentioned, he may as well go ahead and try to add the 400-meters and the long jump trophies to a case that includes 2008 Athlete of the Year.

In the meantime though, he's busy with a new, ahem, pet project: he just adopted a cheetah, which, as you may know, is the world's fastest animal. Seriously.

Sarah the Cheetah Sets 100-Meter Record for Mammals, 6.13 Seconds

Usain Bolt is the world's fastest man, but he's not the world's fastest mammal by a long shot. A Cincinnati Zoo cheetah named Sarah has covered 100 meters in 6.13 seconds, besting Bolt's record for humans by nearly three and a half seconds.

Time for Usain Bolt to Challenge Himself: 400 Meters, Long Jump in 2012

Usain Bolt
Usain Bolt could retire today, having just turned 23, and he would live forever as a legend in track and field. Having already won three Olympic gold medals and broken the world records in the 100 meters and 200 meters at last year's Olympics, he returned to the track and field world championships this summer and won three more golds, breaking his own records in the process.

So what's left for Bolt to do?

Here's Hoping That Usain Bolt Is Clean

Usain BoltDelicately, with arms half-open, I am beginning to embrace the human thunderclap that is Usain Bolt. I'm being cautious not to gush too much, as I once did with so many sprinters and sluggers before having my buzz doused by steroids juice. If Bolt is clean, we're witnessing a phenomenon who could replace Tiger Woods -- am I piling on after his weekend meltdown? -- as the global athlete who dominates and entertains us the most in the 2010s.

And if he's dirty? Sigh.

For now, let's assume this is a freak of nature, not a test-tube creature.

"Back home, I was talking to my friends,'' Bolt said recently of his peeps in his native Jamaica. "I kind of [asked], 'When you get the (Olympic) gold, what is there to do? What is next?' You've got to do something that is impossible to reach. I set myself a standard. I want to be a legend. So that is the biggest goal ... I want to be a track-and-field legend. That's what I work for."

Video: Usain Bolt in 9.58 Seconds

Usain Bolt 9.58 seconds videoIf you couldn't believe Usain Bolt ran the 100 meters in 9.58 seconds, the video proof is below. Bolt is truly the fastest man on the planet after dominating his competitors at a pace 0.11 seconds faster than the mark he set last year at the Beijing Olympics. He also came eerily close to the 9.55 time that a Stanford professor estimated he could've gone had he not slowed down in Beijing.

American sprinter Darvis Patton said it best when describing Bolt: "He's like a created game person."

Usain Bolt Smashes 100-Meter Record at Track and Field World Championships

Usain Bolt World Track and Field ChampionshipsBERLIN -- Usain Bolt crossed the finish line, saw his record-setting time on the clock and spread his arms as if he were soaring like a bird.

About all this guy can't do is fly. And by saving his celebration until after the finish line this time, he showed how fast a man really can go on two feet.

The Jamaican shattered the world record again Sunday, running 100 meters in 9.58 seconds at the world championships to turn his much-anticipated race against Tyson Gay into a one-man show.

Usain Bolt Sets 150-Meter World Record

Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the world at 100 meters and the fastest man in the world at 200 meters, so it's not like anyone doubted that he's also the fastest man in the world at 150 meters. But just to prove the obvious, Bolt ran in a 150-meter race over the weekend, and he ran the fastest time ever recorded.
